  • Sturdy, very smooth, very low noise, outstanding!
Style: ERG700
Just got it today, so not a real defined review. But, it was easy to put together. I did use it for 10 minutes to get a taste. I am what you would call a big guy. Ok, fat (5'11" @ 295). And this is why I bought this. So, I can tell you that it is very sturdy. No worries. The seat is good, in that it will serve its purpose. You're working out, not lounging. Very smooth seat/rail motion. Again, only 1 day with it, but if you are worried because you're overweight....well at least up to 300lb., it is fine. Very sturdy. I'll comment again in a month or so. Just buy it. I was on the wait list for a concept 2, and it was a 45 day wait, to just be able to order it then. This is a great rower!! ... show more

  • Great for home gym! Be sure to check distance/pacing though.
Style: ERG700
Awesome rower for a home gym. Quiet, smooth, sturdy for big people-250lbs- and and good set programs such as 20/10, timed, customizable. I wouldn’t purchase these to outfit a gym, but great for home performance programs. I don’t think it could handle the use and abuse of all day everyday. I am updating my previous review. Product is still great, but the computer does not accurately measure distance. This may be just my machine, but I have been disappointed with customer service this time. They HAVE been responsive in the past, but not with this issue. I sent pictures with pace and time and emailed 3 times. Crickets!!! I didn't even ask for a new computer, I just want to reset the computer. I've had the machine for over a year and I use the heck out of it. It's still great, but when I started doing distances, I realized that the math was incorrect. I double checked my pace on a C2 at the gym to confirm my pacing and math and it showed that I was right with my math and pacing. I would buy this again, but I would check the distance immediately to ensure that it's accurate before your warranty expires. ... show more

  • A rock solid and very smooth machine
I was looking for something that I could use to get in shape and lose some weight. A rower was recommended to me by someone with some exercise expertise. I was able to test quite a few rowers at health clubs and stores etc. I did lots of research and wanted one that would support my weight and be sturdy. I am 6' 1" and close to 300 lbs. Unfortunately most home fitness equipment is not made for larger people. Which those companies need to consider, So I found this machine by Xterra and it looked solid and would accommodate my size. I received the machine and it was well package. This instructions for assembly were very good and the parts were packaged according to the step described in the instructions. So very easy to assemble, only took about 35 minutes. The machine is rock solid and very smooth. Also, the seat is comfortable. The pull is very smooth and the whole moment with rowing and the seat and the pull is very smooth. This compares very close to a machine I tried in a gym that costs more that twice the amount. I have been using it twice a day for about 3 weeks and not a problem. I tested the resistance and it does not fell like a lot or a big change when you change the adjustments . But there really is a big difference. You will only notice a difference after you have been rowing for about 3 or 4 minutes and your endurance is less with more resistance, so it is a usable tool.. The foot print is quit large. When folded up it is not too bad. I use it in a family room and I put it in a corner of the room (folded up) and move it to a bed room when I have people over. I will do an update after I have used it for about 60 days. I would highly recommend this machine. It is rock solid and very smooth. ... show more

  • Reasonably priced rower that will give you a good cardio workout
Positives: – Putting it together didn't take long. – Priced reasonably for the quality of the rower – Function wise it works pretty well and it's not that noisy. – It will give you a good cardio workout. – It will feel like it works your whole body if you have proper form. – It folds up and has wheels if you want to bother with breaking it down. – Doesn't look like a cheap POS. Negatives: – I wish the batteries for the LED were easier to access... you have to take the panel apart to change them. – They should have placed the air vent so it blows air on the the person rowing. Maybe aim-able vents like a car vent? – You will hear the swoosh of the air as you row though not that loud, I do turn the TV up a bit to drown it out. – The foot straps are are too high. I wear a size 10.5 mens foot and I have to have sneakers on and adjust the straps below the lowest section for my foot to fit in the straps. ... show more

  • So far, so good
I was looking for a rowing machine for 500 or less that would not self destruct in a few months. I didnt want anything fancy, blue toothed, bio-metic, etc. Just a study machine that would create progressive resistance when rowing. I had an older model that did the trick but the rollers wore out....and replacment parts dont exist. I chose this one because it said you could select levels of resistance in addition to the resistance already created by the fan. Easy enough to set up. On about the third workout a buckle on a footstrap blew apart. The footrests seem to not fit smaller feet very well. To get the strap to lay above the balls of my feet I have to bring my feet up out of the heel rests. Despite having hip arthritis (surgery on the way) I can row.....but getting my feet strapped in is hard. Unlike other models the footstraps on this machine are not anchored/attached; they slide around while trying to tightening them. The workout is smooth; but I do miss the air blowing back on me that I had with the older model. With this machine I need to set up a small fan nearby during the summer months. It is quiet, smooth, and comfortable. I am a bit dubious of the nylon belt (instead of a chain).....but decided to try it as I have had some problems before with the chain not staying under tension. For the price, pretty hard to beat. And I can get a good workout, which is all I wanted. I really think a future model could have a foot strap that is locked in place once fitted to your shoe; just slide the foot in and start rowing; I dont think you need a super tight grip on the foot, just enough to pull yourself back into the catch. ... show more
