  • Comparison Review! The best hoverboard for kids! [UPDATED REVIEW]
The actual model number for this “Twist” hoverboard is T881. You won’t find the word “Twist” on the box that you receive. I was a bit confused when I noticed that the box did not mention the word “Twist” anywhere. It was well-packaged and arrived intact. *** Comparison with Swagtron Swagboard Pro T1 I previously ordered Swagtron Swagboard Pro T1 that cost twice as much. This was the first time I was ordering a hoverboard for my kids (10 and 6) so I went with one of the most popular hoverboard brand/model. T1 is a very popular model so it usually comes first in the search. I ordered two T1 hoverboards. Unfortunately, both were huge disappointments. They were not as easy to ride as this Twist model. The main difference between this model and the T1 is the battery. T881 has a Lead Acid battery as opposed to a typical “Lithium” battery. The Lead Acid battery takes longer to charge and drains faster. So it appears that the only benefit that comes with a Lead Acid battery is that it does not overheat like the Lithium battery does and therefore there is less chance of it catching fire, or worse, exploding in flames. Compared with the T1, this new T881 model rides much smoother and has an excellent balancing feature they call “Start-up Self-Balancing”. Unlike the T1, as soon as you press the power-on button, the hoverboard self-balances and stays flat so you can step on. In addition to this self-balancing feature, the T881 rides much smoother than the T1. There are no surprises like the unexpected vibrations or the sudden speed changes. For kids, this is the perfect hoverboard. *** Comparison with GOTRAX Hoverfly ION LED Hoverboard There is also this popular brand called “GOTRAX” that is one of the best sellers on Amazon for hoverboards. I extensively researched the pros and cons between this model and the GOTRAX model because they are both similarly priced. Both T881 and Hoverfly feature the power-on self-balancing feature where the hoverboards quickly balance themselves as soon as they are started. That’s about where the similarities end. Hoverfly also features more LEDs so if that is more important to you, that hoverboard may be good. It has LEDs on both wheels and they light up when riding. The two major negatives that Hoverfly has are these: 1. Wheel Size: Hoverfly has 6-inch wheels. T881 has slightly bigger 6.5-inch. Bigger size means it can ride better on uneven surfaces. 2. Motor: Hoverfly has a 200W motor in each wheel. That is a total of 400W. T881 has 250W in each wheel, so that’s 500W for the hoverboard. In summary, if you are looking for a hoverboard for your kid, this one is a good choice that you can’t go wrong with. I also ordered a pair of silicon sleeves for the T881 that fit it perfect and will keep it scratch-free. ... show more

  • Very easy to ride.
The Swagtron T6 was as advertised. It is big, but that's one thing that is so good about it. I've ridden the normal size hover-boards and this one is so much easier to ride. My main objective was to get a hover-board that I could ride outside in the grass. I have ridden this on frozen ground, ice, slush, and small amounts of snow. It does great. can't wait until it gets really nice out. Filling/deflating the tires was difficult because the extension tube they supply didn't work for me. The one I got is only a tube that screws into the valve stem with no way to activate the valve. So, I got some good chrome valve extensions, 1 1/4 inch long, and now I'm able to use them to inflate/deflate the tires. It's nice to let a little air out so smooth out the ride on rough surfaces. The manual could be a little more informative, but that's a minor problem. The phone app is nice but not perfect. I think the T6 is very well built and it goes very fast. I am very happy with it so far. ... show more

  • My son enjoys it
It took my son a few tries to get the balance down. Once he did, he has really enjoyed it. He has had it for quite a while now and still enjoys riding it. It has held up surprisingly well.

  • A lot of fun! For the more experienced rider or quick learner
The product came as described. It is a fun, well made hover board. I purchased this board for my 9 year old son. He loves all things fast and quick and this board delivers on that. If you're a little more intimidated about riding a hover board I would suggest turning off the auto balance right away. When auto balance is on the wheels can keep spinning even when you fall off, I mean dismount. :) It's just fine to have it on if you're a well seasoned pro at hover boarding (is that a thing?) or pick up things quickly. Otherwise, save yourself some trouble. The board definitely likes a flat smooth surface. It beeps if unleveled and beeps until level again. Haven't found a way to turn that off yet, so just be aware. This has a few colorful lights but nothing overwhelming. Cool design on this board. The touch pedals are sensitive which is nice to give you more control. This board does take 5-1/2 hours to charge. Haven't used it yet enough to know exactly how long the battery lasts unfortunately so I can't comment on that, hence a 3 rating. I will say though my son just plugs it in each night and it's ready to go for when he wants it in the morning so it hasn't been an issue for us. Would be nice if it came with a bag. Overall, I'd suggest it for those who aren't afraid of speed and need something to get around quickly. ... show more
