  • Beautiful colors and easy to work with!
Fantastic oil pastels! I got these for a middle school art class I teach. We did a stained glass oil pastel piece and they turned out beautifully. These pastels are easy to use, blend well, and seem quite durable. They do have a slight odor but as long as your face is not right in your work it is not overly noticeable. ... show more

  • Perfect for beginners – amazing quality for the price!
I’m a complete beginner with oil pastels and didn’t want to spend a lot at first. I bought this Pentel 50-color set expecting low quality because it was so affordable… I was so wrong! I’m shocked by how creamy, pigmented, and easy to blend they are. The colors are beautiful, and vibrant. After reading reviews from experienced artists, I totally agree: this is “cheap” stuff that performs like professional-grade. It’s absolutely worth it. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • Vibrant Colors, Endless Possibilities
Alright, fellow artists and crafters, let's talk about the Pentel Oil Pastels 50/Pkg-Assorted Colors. As someone who's always searching for new mediums to express my creativity, these oil pastels have truly become a staple in my arsenal. First things first, the variety: 50 assorted colors! It's like a rainbow in a box, ready to bring any artistic vision to life. From rich, deep hues to soft, delicate tones, there's a color for every mood and inspiration. Now, onto the texture: these pastels glide like butter on paper. Seriously, the smoothness of these pastels makes blending and layering a dream. Whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting out, you'll appreciate the ease with which these pastels allow you to create stunning effects. But here's what really sets these pastels apart: the intensity of the colors. With just a few strokes, you can achieve vibrant, bold results that leap off the page. And because they're oil-based, the colors remain vivid and vibrant over time, ensuring that your creations stand the test of time. And can we talk about the versatility? These pastels are not just for traditional drawing and painting. I've used them for mixed media projects, art journaling, and even fabric embellishments. The possibilities are truly endless. Plus, the packaging is convenient and practical. The sturdy box keeps all 50 pastels organized and secure, making it easy to grab the perfect color for your next masterpiece. In summary, if you're looking for oil pastels that deliver on quality, versatility, and vibrancy, then look no further than the Pentel Oil Pastels 50/Pkg-Assorted Colors. Trust me, once you start creating with these pastels, you'll wonder how you ever lived without them! ... show more

  • Solid cheap option
These are super easy to use if you’re a beginner. They dry down pretty nicely and don’t smudge too badly. I mean you really get what you paid for with these. I’d say they’re good quality for the price but if you’re looking for something more durable and thicker then I’d look elsewhere. They’re a little thicker than a crayon and break kind of easily. Their color variety is wonderful and they’re pretty easy to blend once you get the hang of it. I genuinely enjoyed using these for some simple practice with the medium. ... show more

  • The Best Price you will find for such a wonderful selection of quality colors.
I Love these Oil Pastels and YOU WILL NOT find a better price anywhere then these ones for sale on Amazon! Especially for a Set of 50 that includes several shades of your Yellow, Blue & Red Primaries as well as your Secondary Greens, (Which I favor) Orange & Purples. It’s nice to have an array of Colors which makes it less difficult then if you had only a few and had to mix all the time. These are also very good Quality Pastels and easy for anyone to work with. As someone myself who is not very artistic, I like using this Medium as these Pastels don’t dry up real quick like Acrylic Paints which gives me time. I think Painting with Pastels is like a Marriage of Finger Painting and sculpting with Clay, I literally push Colors around with my Fingers where I want them and smear them to blend adding or taking away layers to fix my mistakes (I make a lot) and for effect. You can also use a Kneaded Eraser to pick up Colors and something I just Ordered on Amazon Tortillions to blend around edges as I personally am finding that my big fingers can’t get detailed areas with out pushing some adjacent colors I don’t want to shift. I also have found sketching what your going to paint first with a charcoal pencil makes it easier kind of like Coloring you can use the Kneaded Eraser to get your sketch right no worries you’ll cover it with these Oil Pastels, make sure to erase it anyways just leaving a light outline to cover or your pastel will mix with and smear the Charcoal. I think you will Love these Oil Pastels you will for sure continue buying I already bought 2 more after this Purchase! Here is my first Painting of a Sunflower and a Snowman I did next as Christmas Gift. You cac see my other Picture they came in a plastic tray which I left them in to keep organized, but I’ve cut in half to fit in my Easel Drawer. ... show more

  • My 4 year old loves these!
These are like a much oilier, pigmented, and smooth crayon. I’ve only ever used this brand of oil pastels so I don’t know how it compares to others but they were very creamy and blended well into one another. My 4 year old LOVES using these much more than crayons. Be aware there will be little shavings that smudge pretty easily and will stick to fingers. ... show more

  • Blend like butter
Absolutely great. I’ve been trying to find a medium that works best for me when doing a large canvas. And these blend so well together. Finished my first ever large canvas using oil pastels a day before posting this review.

Good variety of shades, easy to color, bright, pleasing result. I tried in adult coloring book but will also use in freehand drawings. Very good value this is just for relaxing leisure activity.
