Does the job pretty well. You can see live data and diagnose your car for any major issue without even going to the mechanic which would cost you $75-125 for doing the same thing. Very easy to install and operate. I had to use once and it read the codes accurately.

This scan tool is perfect for finding simple codes and clearing them. We all know that there are codes we can deal with when you get home from a trip. We also know there are codes that shouldn't be left to deal with later as they could easily leave you sitting on the side of the road in the middle of no where. In Wyoming there is a LOT of no where so it's critical to know the difference. This scan tool reads codes quickly and accurately. I appreciate that it comes with a nice little bag to keep it in so it doesn't get scratched up sitting in the glove box or center console. One other feature I appreciate is that it doesn't need any batteries. Putting batteries in one is no big deal. But if someone forgets to turn it off the next time you need it, you find it dead.

This MOTOPOWER OBD2 scanner works well and does exactly what I needed it to do. It provides engine fault codes quickly and doesn’t require an app or a phone connection, which I really like for simplicity. At first, I had some trouble getting it to turn on, but that was likely just me not realizing it needed to be plugged into the car first to get power. Once I figured that out, it worked without any issues. I’d recommend watching a few user videos before using it so you understand the basics, especially if you’re new to OBD2 scanners. Overall, it’s a straightforward, reliable tool for checking codes.

For the same price as many pretty subpar scanners I have used, this thing has lasted me multiple years and gives you live data such as fuel trims, which has been helpful with chasing misfires and leaks. The screen is pretty readable most of the time like in my photo but it can sometimes seem to fog up slightly. For the price it can’t be beat, the only true upgrade is to get the kind of scanner your mechanic probably has, which more than likely costs hundreds of dollars more than this $25 one. There’s a reason they are still selling this same model years later.
