Description

A dark and violent crime thriller set against the backdrop of 1940’s Los Angeles. Amid the post-war boom of Hollywood's Golden Age, Cole Phelps, an LAPD detective is thrown headfirst into a city drowning in its own success. Corruption is rampant, the drug trade is exploding, and murder rates are at an all-time high. In his fight to climb the ranks and do what's right, Phelps must unravel the truth behind a string of arson attacks, racketeering conspiracies and brutal murders, battling the L.A. underworld and even members of his own department to uncover a secret that could shake the city to its rotten core. Utilizing revolutionary facial animation technology that captures every nuance of an actor's facial performance in astonishing detail, L.A. Noire blends the breathtaking action of chases and shootouts with true detective work for an unprecedented interactive experience. Solve brutal crimes, plots and conspiracies inspired by real crimes from 1947 Los Angeles, one of the most corrupt and violent times in L.A. history. Search for clues, chase down suspects and interrogate witnesses as you struggle to find the truth in a city where everyone has something to hide.

  • A Masterpiece of Storytelling and Atmosphere
Having played L.A. Noire on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X, I can confidently say that this game is a standout in the world of interactive entertainment. Here’s why: Pros: Immersive Storyline: The narrative is gripping, with twists and turns that keep you hooked from start to finish. Set in 1940s Los Angeles, the game captures the noir feel perfectly. The attention to detail in the story and character development is top-notch. Stunning Graphics: The game's visuals are impressive, especially considering its initial release date. The remastering for Xbox One enhances the already rich environments, making the city of Los Angeles come alive with authenticity and atmosphere. Innovative Gameplay: The investigation mechanics, including interrogations and clue-finding, are unique and engaging. The facial animation technology is groundbreaking, allowing for nuanced performances from the characters that add depth to the gameplay. Variety of Cases: From traffic to homicide, the variety of cases you tackle keeps the gameplay fresh and challenging. Each case is meticulously crafted, offering a mix of action, puzzle-solving, and detective work. Soundtrack and Voice Acting: The period-appropriate soundtrack and stellar voice acting enhance the overall experience. The music sets the perfect tone, while the voice actors deliver compelling performances that draw you into the story. Cons: Pacing: Some players might find the pacing slow at times, especially if they're used to more action-packed games. However, the deliberate pacing adds to the authenticity and immersion of the detective experience. Conclusion: L.A. Noire is a masterpiece that combines compelling storytelling, impressive visuals, and innovative gameplay. It’s a must-play for fans of crime dramas and anyone looking for a deep, immersive experience. The Xbox One version breathes new life into this classic, making it a worthy addition to any gamer’s collection. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • HIDDEN GEM
Best detective game EVER! Definitely a hidden gem. I just happened to stumble across this game one day and had never heard of it. Read reviews (which were great) and gave it a try. I mean u can't go wrong with Rockstar games

  • The most original and realistic “cop game” ever!
The original LA noir on the 360 was fantastic! It’s incredibly original. You investigate a crime scene, speak to witnesses. When do you think you have enough evidence you interrogate and you have to pay attention to their facial expressions (which were done by professional actors). Without a doubt, the most original cop game I ever played! You start in traffic and work your way up to major crimes. But be careful because if you accuse the wrong people too many times or don’t please your superior, you can get demoted back down to traffic. 10/10. Recommended without hesitation. One of my all-time favorites! This particular one is remastered for the Xbox one. ... show more

  • Excellent game, lackluster remaster
This is definitely one of those games you have to play at least once. For a remaster, this game doesn't impress, even for that era it came out in.

  • An Honest Review
It takes a while to get used to this, because it is Rockstar and an open world and that tempts you to drive like you would in GTA... but you're a cop.... and that counts against you. And it's also low on action. I got it because my wife claims to be a "mystery fan," and an "armchair detective," of course this is a blatant lie, she's more a macabre, sadistic, ID obsessed... whatever. You know, she's pretty much every woman you have ever known. And there are enough corpses of naked women to keep her interests, and there are enough scandalous mysteries to keep her hooked. So it was a pretty big win with her, enough that the ending "traumatized" her. And that initial reaction of shock was a delight to watch. I don't know what else to say. She was hooked on this from start to finish, so I kind of feel like it was an ENORMOUS win. The music and mood fit the genre, it was nice to see a 1947 period open world. But, ultimately, I have never seen my wife get this hooked on a modern style video game before and it was an absolute delight watching her play this. It was probably one of the most satisfying random gifts I've ever gotten her. ... show more

  • Great game then, Great game now!
I've played this on ps3 and got this for my one x. It's an amazing narrative driven game that really captures the Era of 1947 LA. Don't expect to cause gta style mayhem but rather live the life of LAPD Detective Cole Phelps. I would recommend this to anyone except people who don't like cutscenes and slower paced gameplay! ... show more
