I was looking for a small pocket level but didn't want the magnet to keep grabbing other metal items in pocket or possibly damage phone or a usb flash drive I also put in pocket. Initially asked a question and was told it wasn't possible but I figured for $2 I'll just get it and try. I was able to clamp the magnet in vise and then twist the level while pulling to remove it. I did end up chipping the magnet that I could have prevented using a soft jaw for vise but as I don't plan on keeping it I'm fine with that. I then plan on getting some putty to plug up the hole for aesthetic reasons and to help keep dust and debris out. Another thing worth mentioning is it appears to be accurate with the bubble vial facing up as well as rotating it 90ยบ in either direction. ... show more

If it had a magnetic base it would be more useful. The level lines wear off the front facing area of the capsule though. Otherwise it works fine.

I would caution that the only downside is its length, since it's < 5 inches. But it has become so handy that the length is less of an issue than having no level at all. I wouldn't say it's good for hanging fence rails, but then I did that too.

PIcked this up since i have at some point lost my previous smaller spirit level. The previous one I had was just a block of aluminum with the bubble on top. Accurate and simple. I had some smaller projects that my 8" level just would not fit on, so i found this one. A great tool to have. This level is accurate and unobtrusive. I really like the clip so i can keep it handy, and the magnet is pretty strong. I picked up my 8oz hammer with no trouble as a test, and if i dropped a nail I could easily retrieve it. It now has a strong place in my tool box, and i'll try to keep track of this one! ... show more
