It was fairly easy to install; the provided parts and connections made it a breeze. Quiet and powerful, this pump is a huge upgrade for my old single-speed pump. I find the schedules easy to set up and reduced my power consumption. Love it!

Perfect for replacing an old version of itself. I had the 1.85hp for a decade. It bought this to replace it. Everything lines up the same. directions are easy. There is a by-pass if you already have a wall mounted control system. Works great and the extra power allows me to run the system wide open.

Purchased A pool pump from Pool Supply Superstore on AMAZON, it stopped working after 9 months. It was under warranty, HOWEVER, I had to pay $100 to ship it back which took a week. I as told once they recieved it the would send a new one out immediately. That did not happen. I supplied them with a tracking number showing they receieved it on 7/7/2021 at 12:37 pm. When I called on 7/8, They new story is that they need the warehouse verify that they received it before they would send out the new that would take 3-5 days before I recieve the replacement. I made a huge mistake doing businees with this company. They continued the explain that this was their policy and procedures. I inform them, due to their policies and procedures, I would never do business with them again. And I won't. By saving a couple of dollars, I have been without a pool pump for over two weeks. In a case like this, it is better to buy local, no matter the cost. They seem to well versed in apologizing. I am sure they have to apologize alot.

It arrived only one day later than promised - not too bad. The clock is ticking as our inground pool sits without a pump in the summer heat. Our old pump has a twist lock cord on it. We bought the Hayward TriStar VSP, because we wanted an exact replacement for our Hayward EcoStar VSP, which amazingly has lasted almost 10 seasons before we got the dreaded Drive Error. Both old and new pumps are 230 Volt 2.7 THP. I didn't realize the new pump would NOT come with a twist lock cord, because I had completely forgotten that the electrician added the power cord to the original pump when we installed the pool. Silly me, I thought perhaps Hayward tech support could tell me if it is possible to switch the old twist lock cord to the new pump. I tried the link that Amazon provides for Hayward support: SORRY, THE PAGE YOU'RE LOOKING FOR ISN'T FOUND. Well, that's just precious. I called the Hayward support number. After explaining the situation, and asking if a cord can be installed, I was told that I need to consult with an electrician. He wasn't able to tell me if it was possible or not. I asked if the pump was designed to be left outside through a Wisconsin winter if it is supposed to be hard-wired. He said he didn't think so. I asked if Hayward assumes that only people in warm climates will buy their pump, which is supposed to be hard-wired. He guessed that must be the case. He DID inform me that I should have consulted with Hayward prior to buying the pump. I'm not sure how that would have helped - would they be able to tell me MORE about the pump before I purchased it than after? We did finally get an electrician to switch the old twist lock cord to the new pump. It wasn't difficult, but we didn't want to chance voiding the warranty by not having a qualified electrician do the work. The new pump has been up and running for a full week now. The instructions for setting it up are fairly good and I was able to program the timers. The default setting for priming is 8 minutes at max speed, which is really excessive. I reduced the max speed to 3000 rpms and the time to 3 minutes. The pump seems to think that it needs to prime after each setting is changed, which is really annoying, and turns a 2-minute task into a 15-minute ordeal, because you can't access the menu while it is priming. That is the only negative I've found though. It runs great and is much quieter than our old EcoStar VSP. It can really move the water around. I think we can safely say our filter system doesn't have any leaks, because with this pump's power, I'm sure we'd be seeing them. I'm giving 4 stars overall. I take away 1 star, as I didn't find the support to be very knowledgeable. If you never need Hayward support, then it's 5 stars for the pump. We will see if this one lasts as long as the old one did.

I did a direct swap of a single speed Hayward pump. I was able to reuse all old connection and wiring and just installed the new O-rings that were supplied. It is advised that you read the instruction manual until you full understand how to program and operate the unit. Multiple feature are available as well as filter times. Note* there is no way to have multiple speeds in one programing time. So if you want the pump to run a total of 6 hours, 2 at high speed 4 at a lower speed, that would be two different programs. Overall the unit is well built, easy to install, very quiet, and easy to program and operate.
