Pulling the trigger on this pump was a tough decision, since it's not a name brand and there is so little information about the product online. I wanted to give my experience to hopefully help people make their decision a little easier. First, some details about my setup: I have a 13,000 gallon in ground pool in Phoenix, AZ that I now keep covered most of the day. I saw that a lot of positive reviewers were based in Florida, but I wasn't sure if this pump would still work with the cold winter nights in Phoenix. This is being written in January, and the weather here for the last week has been in the low 40s with highs in the mid upper 60s-mid 70s. I had the unit professionally installed, although I am sure most people would be able to do so themselves. I needed to have new electrical run and a new variable speed pump installed professionally, so I went ahead and had them install this at the same time. I had this installed January 9 and my pool temperature was 58 degrees. Over the last week, the pump has been running pretty much nonstop and the water is currently sitting at 81 degrees with a heat pump output of 83 degrees. The first few days saw the biggest jump in temperature, but most days are getting about a 2 degree bump. This is one thing to keep in mind with this unit...you won't see your pool go from freezing to swimmable overnight. But give it time to do its thing and it will keep getting warmer every day. I'm planning on heating until it hits 88, and maintaining that temperature from there. I've been keeping track of my energy usage, and so far with the new variable speed pump and the heat pump running all day, I am seeing a tiny increase in total energy usage over what I was getting with just my old inefficient single speed pump running 8 hours a day and no heater. The heat pump is QUIET! It is directly outside my bedroom window, which we keep open most nights, and it's virtually silent. Like others have mentioned here, if you have any questions and call the support line on the Fibropool website, you will be calling the owner of the company. You probably will go to voicemail and it might take him a couple days to call back, but he has always been happy to answer all my questions and has given me plenty of advice about using the heat pump. He's a super helpful guy. I was very hesitant to buy this, with such little knowledge about the company. But assuming this thing holds up and they stand by any warranty issues, I absolutely recommend this unit if you want to save a ton of money over the name brands.

At the last place we lived, I installed a gas pool heater. It was pretty efficient, for a gas model. Moved south to central Cal, and after doing some research comparing electric versus gas versus heat pump, I went for this heat pump. It's a nice compact unit, easy to wire in and plumb. I'm very pleased with how quiet it is - both the fan and the compressor. It's control panel is straightforward - in fact, I haven't needed to change its default settings. It comes with a cable and box so you can remove the panel from the unit and mount it somewhere more easily accessible if you want to, though I didn't need to do that. On a moderately cool day, the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet is at least 2 degrees, with the water pump running at 50%. Not bad when you consider it's getting that heat from the ambient atmospheric temperature. So far, I'm very happy. **UPDATE 28 MAY 18** Well I love this thing. Yesterday I turned in on, as today looked like being a swim day, the first in a while. Water temp was 66F, and today I swam in 84F - perfect swimming temp. And it copes well with an in-ground pool that's just shy of 10,000 gallons. Still impressed with the low noise.

So after speaking with the owner of this small company, he assured me this heatime pump was the right size for my pool. It is kidney shaped ando 24 feet long by 13 feet wide. I live in a very humid and mild climate of South Florida which should be optimal operating conditions for a heat pump. To my extreme disappointment, despite letting it run day and night, it has failed to raise my pool temperature more than a degree or so. Basically, any temperature change seems to be more attributed to the warming and cooling of the ambient air than the heat pump. Now I get an increased electric bill for no added benefit. The company has no return policy so buyer beware. The only reason I am giving this product two stars is because it does appear made well and does operate, it is simply significantly under powered for my pool. I would ONLY recommend this for a small hot tub or micro pool. Otherwise steer clear. You get what you pay for. Lesson learned.
