    • Great Finish Sander
This is a finish sander, so don’t expect to be removing finish or paint fast with this. Knowing this going in, I love this sander. It’s so smooth and quiet. Dust collection is phenomenal as you expect with festool. It’s very comfortable in the hand. Holding it in your hand, you can feel the quality. I’m not one to baby my tools and have no fear that I’ll ever wear this thing out, it’ll last. The 3 year all inclusive warranty is always a deciding factor for me. It’s variable speed just in case but I seldom take it off the highest setting. I needed a smaller orbit to round out my sander inventory. My other main sander is not great for veneer and other delicate sanding. I do a lot of refinishing so that was a huge reason I bought this one. I don’t have to worry about eating through veneer now. Between my 5mm stroke Bosch and other festool detail sanders, anything else will just be because I like having cool stuff. All my sanding needs are taken care of now ... show more

If you're a first-time buyer wondering whether a premium sander is worth it—stop wondering and just get this one. After years of hand sanding and a decade with a corded Harbor Freight sander, I finally upgraded to this Festool model. I wish I had done it sooner. The difference is night and day. Not only is the sanding incredibly smooth and precise, but the built-in dust control is amazing. Even using just the included dust bag, there's almost zero mess to clean up afterward. One of the biggest surprises? How quiet it is. I can use it early in the morning or late at night in my garage without disturbing my family or neighbors. My old Porter Cable ROS finally died, so I broke out the Festool sander I got years ago, never used. I am an idiot for not replacing all my ROS's and use this Festool sooner. Hardly any vibration, dust extraction is perfect, no sanding fatigue, and it is not too loud even without ear protection. Shop vac makes more noise than this tool. Highly recommended. ... show more

    • Better than expected
I've used a lot of orbital sanders and was actually reluctant to purchase this one due to the higher price. I needed something for the shop that would have better dust collection and a hose that was lightweight. I previously purchase the Rockler vacuum hose for small tools and was very disappointed. It's heavy and cumbersome, many times pull your tool off the workbench or catching on the hose ribbing. This sander, when coupled with the HEPA vacuum system, is surprisingly good. I expected it to be of high quality since it's Festool, but didn't think it would perform up to the price. It does. There is less vibration and it sands smoother in every way. The vacuum works so well with it that there isn't any sawdust on the piece at all. It's actually amazing. The detachable power cord makes it easier to store and the sustainer (container) is really good. A tool that comes with a rectangular case that is stackable; what a great idea. All they other tools I have come with odd shaped vacuum plastic containers that take up more space than they need to. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. ... show more

What a fantastic finish sander! I should have spent the money years ago-such control and precision, and no swirl marks even at 120 grit. Don’t hesitate-it’s worth it.

I had to hem and haw over spending this much on a palm sander but i can truly say that the dust evacuation is way better than my ridgid brand sander. It’s light weight, comfortable, and has less vibration than my ridgid as well.
