So ,despite the heading, this item gets 5 starts. I bought 2 of these batteries about 2 months ago. They both worked as expected out the box. After 1 charge, I noticed one of the battery's fuel guage stopped working, but the battery was still powering my devices. I was past the 30-day return window with Amazon, so I emailed Dewalt and they immediately got another item shipped to me (even though I told them the battery was still functional despite the fuel guage failure). About another 2 weeks passed and the faulty battery finally died. After doing some research, this apparently is a widely reported issue specific to the 5Ah PowerStack batteries It's a great battery, size is good is you want a step down from the 5Ah XR, and at under $100 on Amazon it's sure worth it. Just keep in mind that it might fail, but Dewalt shouldn't have any issues replacing it if it does. They just asked me for the inv. which I downloadednfrom Amazon, and that was it. So 5 starts because it's a great battery. Though I had issues with 1 of the 2 I bought, it was a hassle-free replacement. ... show more

These batteries are amazing! If you have anything that uses alot of power like the hole hog it actually makes it spin faster it has alot more power! Love it I have bought 2 and will probably buy another!

Great battery life and reasonably powerful, as it charges from empty to full in about 2.5hrs, which isnt bad at all for an 5AH battery. These slower chargers are also better for battery longevity. Dead simply to use, just slides right onto the charger and provides charge indicator lights. Build quality seems robust too, which is nice to see these days. ... show more

    • Feels more powerful.
I bought two of these newer-style batteries for my DeWalt DCW620B router. I use that router for jointing long boards with a 7/8" diameter compression bit so I wanted a bit of extra life and punch from the battery and DeWalt recommended this newer technology battery for this new router. They are a little pricier but so far I think they are worth it. I've used them for jointing several 8-foot hardwood boards and all is well. Obviously I will know more in a couple years regarding their longevity. ... show more

    • Two busted batteries...
These things are trash. I'm a huge Dewalt fan and have never had any issues with their tools or batteries. Bought the original, small Powerstack and I love it... so I figured this would be the same. Not at all. I bought the first one, and it works. However, the battery indicator lights stay on 24/7 and drain the battery. Ok, no big deal. Ordered a second one to exchange them... the second one is a complete dud. 100% dead out of the box. I tried the "jump start" method and I get one battery bar. But no charger I have will recognize the dang thing and charge it. Waiting to see what Dewalt does for me with this situation, but needless to say, I will probably stay away from these Powerstacks. ... show more

    • Does not work at all with a Dyson vac fitted with a Dewalt style adapter.
I have a Dewalt type battery adapter on my Dyson cordless vacuum. I also have the smaller 2 Amp version of the Dewalt Powerstack battery, and that battery powers the Dyson really well. Except it does not last long enough. This 5Ah Powerstack will not power my Dyson vac at all. I think they must have a current limiter inside the battery pack that the 2Ah version does not have. I'm sure it's a great battery in Dewalt tools, but was totally surprised it won't power my Dyson. ... show more
