    • Best battery for tools like the DEWALT 120V Max 12" compound sliding miter saw.
There are a few battery powered tools in DEWALT's lineup which draw a large amount of current. This greatly decreases the run-time between battery swaps while using the tools. One example is the 120V MAX 12" compound sliding miter saw. That saw is insanely powerful, but it comes at the price of frequent battery swaps compared to other DEWALT tools. The fact that it uses 2 batteries at once to yield 120 Volts, means you need to bring twice as many fully-charged spares along to keep it running non-stop. Well, I can confirm that these batteries make a huge difference. I can now use the saw on and off all day long by installing a pair of these batteries. The 9Ah batteries were pretty good, but these are significantly better. Of course, at this price, they should be. That's the only drawback of picking up some of these batteries. The cost is admittedly nutty, but I must say it was worth it to get 33% more runtime than the 9Ah offered. With the extended run time, you don't need to carry as many batteries along, either. Amazingly, the quick charger seems like it can charge a set of these in about the same time it charged the 9Ah batteries. Logic tells me that couldn't possibly be true, and perhaps I'm wrong, but it sure seems like it. If you are sitting there considering these batteries because the 9Ah batteries just aren't big enough to get you through a day, you should just click "Buy." I have a pretty good assortment of Dewalt gear. Having said this, depending on what I am doing the batteries need frequent charging. This is a good long-life battery but be mindful of what you put it in. If you are using this with an impact driver, it will get VERY heavy. I tend to use this in a floor light or a heavier piece of equipment which I need the battery power/life for, not on the lighter tools which I am holding above my head all day. ... show more

    • Seller refuses to stand behind defective battery
I bought this DEWALT FLEXVOLT battery thinking I was getting a genuine, warrantied product. It completely stopped working after very little use. When I contacted DEWALT, they told me this seller isn’t an authorized retailer, so the warranty doesn’t apply. When I reached out to the seller directly, they simply told me to go through the manufacturer, knowing full well DEWALT won’t cover it. In other words, you’re on your own if the product fails. The battery was expensive, and now it’s just a dead brick. I would **not recommend buying DEWALT batteries** unless you’re willing to gamble with no real warranty or support. ... show more

Dewalt's Flexvolt battery is available in 6 Ah, 9 Ah, and 12 Ah capacities. The Flexvolt is needed to power the big Flexvolt tools like the chainsaw and leaf blower, but also works as a long-life battery for the 20v tools. So the question you need to ask yourself is, just how much of a priority is it for me to keep working without having to change batteries? You might be able to find a promotion that offers two of the 9 Ah batteries for the same price as the 12 Ah. So, for example, if you're way out in the woods with your pickup or ATV, you might wish you had the big batteries to keep your stuff running longer. If you're working in the back yard, maybe it makes sense to have more cheap batteries with shorter charge cycles. Three additional observations -- there is no weight penalty for the largest battery, so if money is no object that's the way to go In my use of the chain saw and leaf blower, the 9 Ah battery has just adequate use time. To me the 6 Ah battery in those tools would be pretty disappointing. I have only tried the Flexvolt battery on one of my 20V tools -- the big reciprocating saw (Sawzall). That thing is kind of a two-handed monster anyway so it balanced fine. But hang it something like the dainty little impact driver or multi tool and you better have stronger wrists than mine. ... show more

    • Great battery
I'm a floor installer and use this on my dewalt drill to mix flooring prep. I was on a job for a yr mixing. Once I started to use this battery I was prepping 6hrs a day and battery would last 4 to 5 days. And I'm literally mixing 6hrs
