The Champion Power Equipment 14001 4000-lb. ATV/UTV Winch Kit includes everything you need to start winching, including cables and contactor, a mounting channel, roller fairlead and a wiring kit with contactor and mini- rocker handlebar switch. This winch kit is the perfect combination of power and performance to use with your ATV, trailer, boat or snowmobile. With a rated line pull of 4000 pounds, mount this winch on your ATV or side by side with the mounting channel to quickly harness the strength of its 1.4-horsepower (12-volt) DC permanent magnet motor. The 49-foot by 7/32-inch galvanized, super-duty aircraft cable is less prone to fraying, even when used in highly abrasive terrain, such as in rocks, mud, or sand. This incredibly strong cable is guided onto the 1.7 by 3.2-inch drum through the reliable roller fairlead to maximize the life of the cable. The three-stage planetary gear system along with the free-spooling clutch and ergonomic mini-rocker handlebar switch offer excellent control while winching. Designed with your safety in mind, this winch features dynamic braking of the winch drum so you’ll have the stopping power you need for each job. With a gear reduction ratio of 180:1, the winch boasts a line speed of 3.3 feet per minute with a full load, and 12.8 feet per minute with no load. Accompanied by the heavy- duty clevis hook and handy strap, this compact and lightweight tool is anything but lightweight when it comes to power. Fortunately I have not had the need to use this winch installed on my UTV. But the tests I performed gave me the additional secure feeling that I was looking for. The product appears sturdy and durable. The install was simple. Due to the placement of my battery and where I decided to install the solenoid I needed to switch the provided cables as one set is longer than the other. Both sets could have been a few inches longer. Other than that the install was a very easy process. The wiring diagram and instructions were very easy to follow. I spent most of the morning on the install but to be fair it included the removal and install of a new front bumper and grill to accommodate the winch. I opted to install the remote at a later date. I now believe that was a mistake and should have installed it all at the same time. Either way it only took about a half hour to install the remote antenna and wiring. I was very please Champion offered a winch of this power level for my UTV. The Can-Am dealership brand version was over $500, not including installation. This powerful winch was a fraction of the cost and it was fairly simple to install. It was not a plug and play fit. I had to drill some holes to make it work and it came with all the parts to fit most applications. I'm very pleased with this. The remote works great, as well. ... show more

I got this to install on a trailer. Made a support and bracket at the front. Pull things up with this winch. Well, to test the welds and winch I put our forklift in neutral and hooked to the winch. I was amazed at how far it pulled that big forklift. Totally not made for that weight , even with wheels lol. But it pulled it. Successful torture test. ... show more

This is a nice winch for the money. I mounted it on the front of my ATV. I had to make my own mounting bracket. I welded some quarter inch steel and then bolted it to the front bracket. It took a little work, but it does the job.

It is what you expect. Be sure to make sure it will fit your machine as delivered, because you may need an adapter. And the adapter I needed required a different fairlead guide with bigger footprint. My only dislike is the remote…it doesn’t use a relay so is hard to press buttons, which is harder when plowing snow and you have cold hands. If you want an easy button press, you will need to get a contactor/relay kit. If I had it to do over, I would do that…still might someday… ... show more

    • Not that impressed so far..... functional issues Update: Cust Service Responding Well

June 2, 2021 Update: Customer Service called me back, I described my problems... they quickly offered to replace the faulty contactor and remote assembly under 2 yr warranty. Parts are supposed to be shipping and should be delivered in approx 2 weeks or less. Good, quick cust service. May 2021: Winch is generally operational but having problems w/ the remote control and the contactor sticking on (and sometimes sticking off.... only runs in one direction). Contactor sticking can be a dangerous issue. I didn't open and use the winch in the first 30 days... so now beyond the return period w/ Amazon. Not good. Remote: Possibly the batteries in the remote are going dead after only a week of use. The remote only works for 4 to 10 seconds at a time... then shuts off (light visibly shuts off). This makes the wireless remote nearly unusable. I will be in the middle of winching something w/ button fully depressed and it just stops working. Sometimes pushing the power button again will turn the light on and you can continue for another 4 seconds. Sometimes you have to push multiple times and hold your mouth just right. I opened up the remote to see about replacing the batteries... the battery compartment retention springs and contacts are a joke. Now I tend to think that it's more likely that the batteries are shifting around in the remote compartment and making occasional contact w/ the battery contacts. I attempted to put batteries back in the correct position and close up the clamshell case.... very difficult to do (looks like a 3-year-old designed the battery compartment). Contactor: 2 problems >>> 1) Right off the bat... the first time I used the winch, I found that I would be operating the winch in one direction and when I attempted to reverse it.... nothing. The contactor is the issue. Contacts are sticking open in one direction. The only recourse is to tap the contactor and then it begins to operate properly for a while. 2) After a few days of use, the contactor began to stick closed. This is dangerous! If I'm pulling something heavy in... I want to do it in a controlled manner. The contactor sticks closed and when you let off the switch.... the winch continues to run for ~ 3 more seconds. You can push the opposite direction button to get it to stop ... or wait and hope you don't break something or injure someone. I called cust service... waited on the phone for 45 min... nothing... on hold. Placed another call for call back from them. Will wait to see if they call me back. I'm beginning to think that maybe I chose the wrong winch. Would rather have gone w/ a no-name company who at least answers their phone. Will follow up w/ response from Seller. ... show more
