I like how easy it is to set up the bookcases and future moving is made simple by being able to fold the bookcases flat and move as two separate bookcases instead of one tall. They are not as sturdy as my solid wood (non stackable) bookcases but I am using these for paperback books and they work just fine for that. The finish is nice--I bought walnut. They look good. I did use pliers to pull the black pegs from the top bookcase as they are needed only when connecting the bottom bookcase to the top one if you are stacking two, but are unnecessary on the top one. ... show more

The craftsmanship and quality is beautiful. They were meticulously packaged, yet so easy to unbox. It was as if someone had taken great care to put it together and like a gift, it opened on its own, unfolding as you removed the packaging. This is by far the best Amazon product I have ever seen. One reviewer commented about a chemical smell. I assure you not one of the 4 I ordered had any such smell. Good thing I didn’t read that earlier or I would’ve been discouraged from ordering. I’m glad I ordered these. They are a godsend, actually. I have quite the accumulation of books. They weigh only about 20 lbs each. They fit in my small living space, and actually add to the decor, not detract from it. The wood finish on the honey oak is great quality. With the price of wood here in the States shooting up since the pandemic, you can’t beat this price. I got a discount somehow, so that’s why I took the leap and ordered 4. The reason I didn’t give all stars is because one is more wobbly than the rest. That might be why one reviewer commented about that. Each unit is a bit different. One has a very tight fit, one is just loose - and the loose one has something dark, almost sticky looking on the bottom shelf. I don’t know if it’s part of the wood or a flaw. I didn’t see any quality control stamp of approval on a piece of paper. One unit had the hardware attached by a clever thread built into the box. Another unit didn’t - it was just in the box. The wobbly one could’ve been a return - I didn’t see hardware to go with it. The hardware isn’t actually needed at all unless you plan to attach it to a wall. Apparently the units are stackable. They do look like they would fit well. I’m not sending back the flawed one with the dark stain on the bottom. Maybe it’s a quirk of nature. Having Thai in the family, this is a welcome addition. One day my family will see “Made in Thailand” on the caution sticker saying don’t put a heavy TV set on this (maybe that’s the quality control or different). This is a very sturdy bookcase. It came in a big box but once we unboxed it, all I had to do was unfold it and place it where I wanted it in the room. I had my books put away and organized on it in less than 10 minutes. What a deal!
