This clock fits nicely over our antique drop down desk in our living room. The chime is nice and strong and keeps good time and rings the hours strong. It is far away from the bedroom as not to disturb a good nights sleep and its a great timekeeper for my wife's '20 minutes' afternoon nap on the nearby couch. The clock face is easy to read and the pendulum looks really nice behind the glass.     • Perfect!
At first I thought it was not going to work as a screw was missing and the other 3 screws which holds the face of the clock, have broken off. So now the left over screws would not fit. I got some new screws and that fixed the issue. The clock look very elegant. The sound is loud and clear. Packaging is not appropriate for this clock. The manufacturer needs to rethink the way they pack these clocks. You can't go wrong for the price. ... show more

We needed to replace an older, similar clock that has to fit in a narrow space. This was our choice, and we're very happy with the selection. The clock is classically beautiful; and the battery-operated clock, chime, and pendulum movement are a real help to me since my arthritic fingers made winding the old unit's spring mechanism very uncomfortable. ... show more

    • Despicable quality
The quality of this clock is despicable. If you’re standing 10 feet away, it looks ok. Get close and see the inexcusable scratches and nicks on the wood and the scratches on the very cheaply made pendulum and you will know you wasted $65+. I wouldn’t pay $15 at a flea market for this clock

    • Keeps time but still inaccurate.
It's beautiful and keeps time. The chime, however, sounds like a 90's MIDI file, and rings one more time than the actual hour (example: nine chimes at 8:00). I will probably be removing the batteries, because I dislike the electronic sound, and the inaccuracy drives me crazy. If it was only $30 I would expect this lack of quality; but for something with a "listed price" of $249.99, and an actual price of $70+ I would like something accurate, that doesn't sound like it came from Final Fantasy VII. ... show more

    • Does not chime after 9 p.m. and before 6 a.m.
The clock is attractive and the sound quality of the chimes is nice, but I was not aware that there is apparently no way to override it from going silent after 9 p.m. and before 6 a.m. I understand why that would be a desirable feature for most people, but my mother for whom this was a gift actually likes to hear it during the night to know the time if she happens to wake up. That would have made a difference in my purchase of this product if I had known it. ... show more
