Description

Solid hardwood case finished in a warm brown cherry stain enhances the natural grain. A plated and polished gold bezel holds the convex glass lens and protects the cream dial that accents the case, bold clear numbers enhance the visibility for reading the time. This has been a wonderful clock. Bought it 10 months ago. Read the directions, put batteries in it, and set it to receive the broadcast time signal from WWVH in Colorado. I live in central VA. Put it in the back yard for a while, no update. Put it in a swing on my front porch and bingo - it was exactly on time. For over 10 months it has kept perfect time to the second and the batteries are still going strong. Looks great. works great, readable from over 15 feet away. If you want a very nice classic wall clock that automatically sets the time (time changes included) get this one. I use it in our living room but it would be great in large rooms (like lobbies, meeting rooms, restaurants, institutions, school rooms. Be sure to read the directions and be patient while it connects to the broadcast. Give it a few hours and then move it to a different location, higher, with a good view towards Colorado. If you are having trouble, put it in your car and drive to an open area away from buildings, mountains, etc.. ... show more

    • Beautiful Clock Keeps Perfect Time

Very pleased with the Bulova Atomic Clock for looks, accuracy, and ease of use. I followed the included setup directions (selected EST time zone and Daylight savings set to off) and inserted a AA battery. The hands began to sweep around and I watched it as it went through a 12 hour sweep and then began to synchronize with the 60Hz time standard it was receiving. After a couple of minutes, the hands swept around and locked in to the current time. I noted with the first synchronization that the minute hand was off by one minute but it re-synchronized 2 hours later and this was corrected. It has been running with perfect time right down to the second hand when compared to my phone's time display. Note that the frame of the clock is nicely finished wood and quite sturdy compared to a lot of the plastic clocks that are out there. As others have noted the glass is reflective but in our kitchen it is not a problem and the clock is very easy to read from anywhere in our kitchen or dining room. I suspect that reflection problems are dependent on the angle of light from any overhead lighting in the room where you install the clock. This clock does not come close to keeping the right time. It's been hanging on my office wall for five days and has never displayed the correct time. No instruction booklet came with it and there are no instructions printed on the box it came in. I can only guess as to how to get it to work properly. It has a new battery in it and it is running, but the time is currently one hour and thirty-four minutes off. At other times, it has been as much as four or five hours off the correct time. The DST button is in the "on" position and it is set for Eastern time (I live in Virginia, USA). It is an "Atomic" clock, which means it should receive a correct time signal from somewhere in Colorado every two hours. It has had plenty of time to get right. One would expect much more from a clock that has the name "Bulova" on it, but it's a huge disappointment. It's a beautiful clock, but I need accuracy more than beauty.
