  • Sometimes a Protection Warranty Makes Sense
Don't get me wrong. I don't always buy warranties. Sometimes I think it's a waste of money. I can fix most things on my computers and other things. But, there are some things I get warranties on. One thing is Phones. Another is on Expensive Large Screen TV'S or items hard for me to fix. I've had a couple of large screen TV's that required a tech to come in and repair. Unfortunately, it wasn't these guys I had warranty with. It was under warranty still with Vizio. They sent a Klutz out that put deep scratches in an $1,800 handmade TV credenza. He just looked at it and said, "Yeah, those things scratch pretty easy." That was AFTER I told him to lay a towel down and handed him a beach towel. He caused more damage than the TV was worth. GRRR! It's been a few years and it still makes me mad. Vizio paid a local repair person to come out and "Fix it" He just filled in the scratches and touched them up. You could still tell. So, my advice: If you ever have a large screen TV and a repairman comes to your home to do the repair, take the TV down yourself onto the floor. They want to do the work in your home, because it's easier than transporting the big TVs. Anyway, I know that has nothing to do with this. Just a lesson learned. These guys were really great. I had an Android TV Box that bricked on me. I tried every trick in the book. It was just gone. It was just a few weeks until the end of my warranty and I'd never used one of the Asurion Warranties before. I thought, "Great. That's it." It couldn't have gone smoother. The guy I chatted with understood my problem. They emailed me a shipping label, I found a small box and put everything in. My sister dropped it off at one of the UPS drop off points and a few days later I got an email that the unit had been received and the code for my Amazon Gift Card with Button Link that took me right there. I did it and it immediately was put on my account. I would highly recommend Asurion Warranties. They worked well for me. ... show more

  • Not as listed/unable to contact correct service to cancel
I purchased a HDTV antenna from Amazon which I am returning because it did not work. I contacted Amazon customer service and was given a 1-866 # to call to cancel this 3 year service plan--If I don't have the antenna I don't need an extended warranty for it. It turns out Asurion is part of AT & T. When you try to call the number you are told to access the website. The website will not let you in without registering and including the 10 digit wireless number for service for the "phone". This did not concern a phone. I made a mistake somewhere and got a red error message that gave me a different 1-866 #. I got a very nice young lady who tried to help me find the correct division/she had no idea that these plans were being marketed for anything other than the phones they normally deal with. She gave me another number which also will not work without the phone number...my problem is not with a wireless phone. I spent well over an hour trying to get through the phone or website. It was an endless circle always coming back to the same beginning point. I still have not been able to cancel the unneeded warranty. It's not that it's that expensive, $6.41--it's the fact that there is no direct access even back through the original purchase point to get to a way to make this change. The customer service person was very polite and conscientious and really did try to help me. But she also had no direction she could go to get to the correct cancelation page. Once I am sure the antenna has been received back at Amazon, I'll probably just go to my local Best Buy and get another so I can make sure I have a face to face fall back in case I have any future problems. I guess I'll just keep the pdf from Asurion. Can't do anything with it, don't have the product, but hey...I've got a pdf! Not at all satisfied. ... show more
