  • First rate all around.
Extremely well designed and built. it's heavy, of course, as it should so you'll want to be prepared to deal with that, because you will have to assemble the base. Sidenote...the part that attached the stove to the flue pipe was missing. I called customer service, and Loretta took my information and said she would take care of it. A couple of days later, the needed part arrived at absolutely no charge. First rate customer service to go along with a first rate wood stove. ... show more

  • 3 years in and working great
We live in northern WI and use this daily for 4-5 months out of the year. It works well for the size. I had to install a brick on each side to keep the logs slightly elevated and found this helped the burn. Once I did that, lighting a fire was quick and easy. Instructions tell you not to elevate the wood but it is difficult to get a fire started or keep it going at times if the wood is sitting on the ash pile on the bottom. This stove heats our house (Main floor of about 900 sq. ft.) to a comfy 72-74 degrees if its not colder than say 15-20 deg. F. outside. Below 15 deg. f. and its a bit harder to maintain the heat but that's not the stoves fault. If I could do it over again I would buy an even larger stove. But we'll continue to use this one until it's time to replace. ... show more

  • Some items could be improved
After 3-4 years of use, this stove has several aspects to commend it. Like the size and cost, and support for these days "reasonable". But several aspects indicate the mftr maybe not had many years to tweak and tune to get exactly best right. Few key challenges included: 1) Is the stove EPA certified or not? -- different statements, 2) Stove does seem to suffer backdraft issues more than some stoves that we have had --in our case, where working stove before, we have had to get outside air pipe installed and a taller chimney, plus a chimney pipe fan. 3) Stove can get too hot even on the lowest air setting -- needs a stronger fan to spread air. 4) Ash removal is at best "OK", but the removal hole not centrally placed and have to almost let fire out to best remove ashes. Seems more effort than other stoves. Some stoves let ashes fall thru and not have to stop and restart stove every 2-3 days. 5) An issue where a board in the top of the stove must be paced right for it to work best. and 6) Crating a 500 lb object is tough at best, but as several noted could be improved for delivery. ... show more

  • 4.5 stars really
This stove is priced well and works well. The only two complaints I can come up with are as follows. First the flat top makes opening the stove while burning very easy to allow smoke into the house. I have to open the door slowly and not to wide or smoke pours in. My old stove had a sloped top with the back higher than the front. This helped keep the smoke in when adding wood. Second the ash collection requires you to reach in and pull a 3 inch metal plug. It is just not as useful as I had hoped. ... show more

  • the hole for the ash to drop through does not line up with the ash pan
The ash pan and the cleanout hole do not line up very well allowing the ashes to spill outside the pan.
