First off, I purchased this with the intent of trying to hack it into a CNC table for my baby drill press. This is not a piece of precision machine equipment, though if you're looking to increase your precision in drilling over adjusting by hand, it's a nice bit of kit. First, it doesn't come with the little handles. Ding one star for the disingenuous nature of the photo. Size: It's got a 300 x 100 mm travel, roughly one foot by four inches. That's about good for a mini-drill press. Construction is aluminum, the cheaper the better. The extrusions are pretty decent factory-ware. The slider table and mount (the green bits) look to be cast and trimmed. The tightness is adjustable via a set of brass bearing strips (oil-bronze would have been better), so periodic maintenance should include checking the tightness of these screw-nut adjustment doo-hickeys. The screw drive is a regular 8mm threaded rod. It will work for positioning, but this is not a milling table. The knobs are marked, but I make no assumptions as to any measurement other than marks on a dial. The end caps are plastic bits with an aluminum plate insert. I haven't taken it apart yet, but I rather doubt that there is any kind of bearing other than threaded rod on plastic and aluminum. The fun parts: o The 8mm threaded rod happens to be the same diameter as T8 ACME threaded rod, which is readily available, along with all the bits to actually provide precision and accuracy. o The 100 and 300 mm stages are interchangeable. I ordered a second one. My plan is to make two functional CNC XY tables, one 100 x 100 mm and one 300 x 300. I have no idea whether it will work or not but it seems like fun. ... show more

So just got this and 1 hour ago not bad right out of the box can the best slide table I've ever bought for 30 bucks as a mini people don't get scared of other people's comments I'm a third-generation Machinist I only used old school machines this slide is actually an upgrade to my machines way faster and as you can see by the picture it cut that 3/16 by 3/16 as I'm making a new clamp dog wedge for that exact slide table that secures even tighter good little purchase you have to do some fine-tuning on it be sure to lube it with some good chain lube or side table Lube you can get it at a local hardware store but other than that don't force it let the machine do the work pretty nice for 30 bucks ... show more

    • Not accurate or sturdy, but not complete garbage either.
Cheap compound table that will probably be marginally usable for small projects when combined with an ultra-low-power cutting head like a small dremel. Unfortunately there's a TON of play in both slides that cant be completely adjusted out. On a small drill press, there is about 3mm of flex if adjusted very well and used with sharp tooling, so it can't really be used for an accurate cut if the tool has any torque. The dials are also not graduated in standard measurements; each full revolution is roughly 1/21 in or 1.2 mm. You'll have to use a different method of measuring cuts. Not a huge deal if you know what to expect, but something of which potential buyers should be aware. Overall it is usable but has a lot of problems. Not recommended unless price is your only criteria and you are willing to spend a lot more time to get decent results. Used for rough cutting small parts before finishing on an actual mill, and I may buy another for that purpose. ... show more

    • A small table for plastic or wood projects
This table is too light and too small to be used on a small drill press and would require modification to function correctly on any type of milling machine. Light - the entire assembly might weigh 5 pounds at most. Because it is light, adjustment along X or Y access is not precise. There appears to be some flex that means precise machining is not really possible. The base of the mill is aluminum which means it is soft and light. Mounting to a drill press may require drilling and tapping the tray or fabricating an insert adapter. Because of this, unless you mount it to a solid surface, the table will not be a sturdy platform. Adjustment knobs - the X and Y access are mounted on what appears to be two steel threaded rods. I would suggest you apply grease to facilitate smoother movements. Because of the light weight of the base, the knobs have quite a bit more weight to them. Adjustment was very wonky and an altogether unpleasant experience. This table looks to be designed for small model and woodworking projects. If you are looking for a small table for milling metal components, I would suggest looking for something with an actual vice. Certainly you should find a table made from iron or steel with more weight. ... show more

I use this for making electric guitar parts. It has a bit of slop in the vice movement screws that may be able to be tightened with an adjustment. It has movable jaws on both sides of the vice that clamps the work material and that feature was most useful. So far, it is perfect for my use which demands woodworking precision. I do not think a machinist would be elated because there isn't that kind of precision - except for drilling holes on a medium sized or bigger drill press. Milling: too much slop for machinist precision. Drilling: very accurate hole locator when used with a medium sized or larger drill press. This cross vice is much more accurate than a manual set up, and it tends to better maintain the work in that position even if the punch was off center. ... show more
