Description

All it takes is one simple set. Tomcat® Press 'N Set® Mouse Trap is guaranteed to kill mice and allows for easy, no-touch disposal. These plastic, spring-loaded snap traps are easy to set and reduce the risk of pinched fingers. To use, place a pencil eraser-sized dollop of food such as peanut butter into the bait well. After baiting, pull the set bar back the entire way until you hear a ""click"" to tell you it is locked. Mice have a natural tendency to run along walls as they move from hiding to feeding, so we recommend placing traps facing the walls of rooms or cupboards where activity is suspected, such as kitchens, basements, or garages (droppings and oily marks along baseboards are a telltale sign of activity). Once the mouse has been caught, pick up the trap using the grab-tab and dispose of the trap and the rodent in the trash. If you would prefer to reuse the trap, pinch it open and drop the dead rodent in the trash. Your fingers will never touch the dead mouse! These mouse traps are fantastic and really effective. After spotting a mouse in my workshop, I blocked the entry point and picked up these plastic traps. The results were impressive with two mice caught the first night, and the next day one trap even caught two at once. While limiting their access outside and not having food in the building probably helped, the traps themselves worked perfectly. They are very easy to set and bait. When using peanut butter, it’s important to press the black button so the trigger isn’t stuck to the white base; otherwise, the trap may not set correctly. Placement is also crucial, I found the best results by positioning the traps in choke points where the mice were active. ... show more

These are the best!! We live way out in the woods and see lots of mice damage in the garage, wood pile on the porch, plow truck, backhoe, every where. These traps are very easy to bait, set, and dump the victims out, then reuse. Put the trap on the floor and push the lever down to set it, pick the trap up by the lever and squeeze it to release it without touching the mouse. I’ve used other styles but nothing catches more, not even close! One overlooked but very effective ‘passive’ feature is the shape, mice are attracted to holes. Some advice I’d give (for any trap) is use Tomcat mouse attractant gel in some traps, and peanut butter in others. Alternate the two baits around in different areas. It seems the mice get finicky after a while. I notice both baits are pretty much equally very effective, but I’ll catch a whole bunch one right after another and then nothing. Swap the baits around and the cycle starts all over again. Another thing, test the traps with stick a couple times just to be sure it’s sensitive enough. If you look closely you can see where the trigger part is catching and get an idea of how sensitive it will be. Mice follow the scent of other mice so try not to clean the bait area too much. Mice also like to follow along walls and leave scent trails so put the traps there if possible. If you see scent trails in other areas of buildings, wash them off. ... show more

With a chronic mouse problem, I have lots of experience with Tomcat press 'n set mousetraps. First, I'll note that they are easy to handle, from baiting to setting to disposing of mouse. Secondly, they're effective. They catch and kill mice. Maybe now you're wondering, why only four stars? If I could, I'd give 4.5 stars. The missing half star is because when re-used, they become less than 100% effective. And by that I mean, the trap springs, but a fraction of a second late (I think). And so it lands on some other part of the mouse instead of the neck and it isn't lethal. Then you have a horribly wounded mouse to deal with. In my experience, they can usually be reused safely 3-4 times. After that, I throw them away, because it's not worth dealing with a misfire. Having said that, I believe it would be true of any similar mousetrap- there's always the potential for a misfire. These are a little more expensive than some other brands but I think they're worth it. ... show more

I buy these all the time, because I toss the whole unit out with the dead mouse in it. I just don’t want to get near the dead mouse that may carry diseases. It’s a strong and sturdy unit that is very easy to use. I recommend it.

These are the easiest, and most reliable traps I've used. My rating comes from that the plastic seems to become brittle right where it's held to the pivot. It breaks and then you have to throw out the trap.
