  • Short But Packed with Great Information
Format: Paperback
I was surprised at how much was packed into 52 pages. This husband-wife author team clearly love this kind of lifestyle and the openness to simpler living. I was really inspired, which was unexpected! Even if tiny homes are not in your future, just reading this will give you a new view of how you might simplify life. ... show more

  • Helpful book to educate a true beginner in the tiny house movement
Format: Kindle
This book is a very good resource for anyone just starting to figure out if they want a tiny home journey. It covers the basics and offers helpful tips on how to balance practicality with emotional connection when downsizing. I really appreciated the thoughtful advice and the encouragement to approach tiny living with both the mind and heart. However, there are quite a few punctuation errors throughout, which can be distracting. With a little editing, this could be an even better guide! ... show more

  • An approachable and informative introduction to the world of tiny living.
Format: Kindle
Tiny Home Guide For Beginners by Felicia and Brian Nagamatsu is an approachable and informative introduction to the world of tiny living. Written with the beginner in mind, the book covers everything from the philosophy behind the tiny home movement to the practical considerations of downsizing and building your own small home. The book is organized in a way that walks readers step-by-step through the entire process, making it easy to navigate for someone with no prior experience in tiny living or construction. The Nagamatsus start with a discussion of the lifestyle, emphasizing the environmental, financial, and emotional benefits of living in a tiny home. They provide a balanced view of the pros and cons, acknowledging the challenges (such as limited space and the need for organization) while also highlighting the freedom and simplicity that many tiny homeowners cherish. The authors break down complex topics into digestible sections, which makes this book particularly accessible for those who are just beginning to consider the idea of tiny living. They cover essential topics such as: Choosing the Right Tiny Home: The Nagamatsus help readers explore different styles of tiny homes (e.g., mobile vs. stationary) and guide them through the process of selecting a design that fits their lifestyle. Design and Layout: They emphasize the importance of thoughtful design in making the most of limited space, offering useful tips on layout, multi-functional furniture, and storage solutions. Building or Buying: Whether you're planning to buy a pre-built tiny home or build your own, the authors provide clear guidance on what to expect in terms of costs, materials, and time commitment. They also touch on the legal aspects, such as zoning laws and permits. Downsizing and Organizing: One of the most valuable sections of the book is dedicated to decluttering and downsizing, which is often one of the biggest hurdles for those transitioning to tiny living. The Nagamatsus offer practical strategies for parting with possessions and organizing a minimalist lifestyle. Sustainable Living: The book also delves into the sustainable aspects of tiny living, with advice on energy-efficient appliances, composting toilets, and water conservation. Felicia and Brian Nagamatsu have a friendly, conversational writing style that makes the book feel more like a personal guide than a dry manual. Their tone is encouraging, and they provide a great deal of practical advice without overwhelming the reader with technical jargon. The book is filled with personal anecdotes and experiences, which help readers relate to the challenges and joys of tiny home living. The authors come across as genuine advocates for the tiny home lifestyle, which makes the book feel both authentic and motivating. ... show more

  • I liked it
Format: Kindle
Good book to help introduce people to tiny homes but its needs more visuals for people to understand what I tiny home is like.

  • An Engaging Intro to Tiny Living, But Lacking Depth
Format: Kindle
Tiny Home Guide for Beginners is a great introduction for anyone considering this lifestyle. I appreciate how the authors frame tiny living as more than just a home—it's a way of life. However, much of the information feels anecdotal. I would have loved more details about the authors' personal experiences, visuals, and insights into potential blind spots for newcomers. Overall, it's an easy and interesting read. ... show more

  • The 411 on the Tiny Home Life
Format: Kindle
I liked that the book provided a comprehensive guide surrounding tiny homes as I have always been interested in the subject. One of my favorite nuggets in the book is that tiny homes aren't considered real estate and that "buying real estate is a financial growth decision. Buying a tiny home is a personal growth investment." Quick read, would recommend. ... show more

  • A great introduction to tiny home!
Format: Kindle
A great introduction to tiny home! The book is clear and easy to read. A lot of information to start thinking about switching to tiny house. The tone is friendly and the author shares a lot of personal insight. The only thing missing might be some layout plans to help better visualize.
