2nd update: a couple of the lights seemed to stop charging and I liked them enough that I purchased a second set. While putting the new ones together, I remembered that there are rechargeable batteries inside! So, I ordered new batteries (600mAh) to see if my old lights will work again. Update: now that the fall days are shorter and greyer here in the Midwest, the lights aren't getting enough sun to stay lit for as long as they did during the summer. But it's not like I'm sitting outside right now anyway. They are so pretty to look at while they are lit. I do love them. Original: I live in a townhome with community space in the backyard. I bought some privacy planters and added these lights at the top for some evening light. I really love them! I love the warm star effect and that I don't have to turn them on and off. I was super excited to get these solar deck lights. They are well designed and seem like they will stand up to all the different types weather that comes with my area. I was concerned that the lights would attract bugs, but no problems whatsoever. The lighting is perfect. It's not too bright, but just dim enough to give you a view of your surroundings. I actually stopped using my porch light, which is usually on until I return home from work late at night. You can set the lights to change colors every few seconds or you can select the color you like and set it. They are super easy to install. I am interested to see how I will change the batteries when the time comes. Great purchase. I think I will buy another set for my front porch. ... show more

I have to admit that I just bought one package at first because of the price. I was afraid I wouldn’t like them and didn’t want to spend so much money on them. We got them in and they are super easy to put together, but we did need to drill some holes in our wooden fence to install them ( I am totally fine with that because they seem super sturdy). I loved them instantly and couldn’t believe how bright they were. The only downside is that there is only 6 in a pack for $40. I get lots of compliments on these lights. I have put them on planter boxes in front of the house as well as staircases outside. They hold up well in all kinds of weather. Takes one day of sun to fully charge. The batteries last about two years and can easily be replaced with a AA battery. A simple switch underneath changes the light color if you want. I have a small walk way into my back yard that is very dark at night. I've tried a motion activated spot light that ran on C batteries, that was good for a few weeks. I searched amazon for something solar that was small and could be mounted inconspicuously under the eaves. The area gets about 2-3 hours of direct sunlight (it's the walk way between two houses). These are sitting on the cinderblock wall, I may add a small strip of VHB 3M tape to make sure they don't get knocked off accidentally, but so far they have stayed in place by gravity alone. Four of the LEDs give enough light for you to see where you are going. So far I am happy. I just need something from dusk to bedtime, so the few hours of direct sunlight seem to charge them enough for that. I've attached a photo, the left side is the iPhone exposed image, the right side is about what the naked eye will see. Again, it's not super bright, but it took an area that was pitch black and brought it out of the shadows. ... show more
