This is my second “purple mattress”. I love mine so much that I purchased this for my daughter’s guest room. I’ve had mine for three plus years with no complaints. When I visited her before I could not sleep on her memory foam mattress, not only was it too hard but unbelievably hot. I look forward to visiting now. I used to be strictly a side sleeper but I can now sleep on my back in comfort. This mattress does not get hot. I am not disturbed when my husband turns over. There are no indentations on his side of the bed.

I bought this mattress based on the rave reviews from people with the same chronic back problems I suffer from. I had such high hopes that, finally, a mattress company would actually have something to provide me some relief. And with a reasonable return policy to help make sure it’s right for me. I gave the mattress a long trial period… I gave it a chance… to see if it would be better than my $2000+ Sleep Number bed. I’ve been in severe, debilitating pain for so long now. I sold the sleep number and wish I could get it back. It was far superior and at least I could get around somewhat during the day without too much pain. It’s been a long while since I could actually do a full week’s work. I am a programmer and sit all day for 12 plus hours. As for the Purple Mattress… after today, I realized that I am not eligible for a return. This is an over-priced, “next-level” version of a foam “water raft” or blow up mattress… They certainly have some EXCELLENT marketing in their arsenal! Apparently I fell for it!. I was under the impression that Purple “bends over backwards” to make their customers satisfied… extra long trial periods… returns etc. Well, After not sleeping on the mattress for well over a debilitating month now… it’s just been a colossal, $1,700+ mistake and now I’m screwed. Now I have to go back to my old physical therapist again because of the damage I have received/exasperated, sleeping on floor… couches. Recliner… now I can’t afford to try another flash-in-the-pan, fly-by-night mattress company… I just want to give up… unfortunately, I have a family to support and now spend 3 days a week, away from work to try and find some relief from the back pain. Bottom Line Be careful where/how you buy these things. I’ve seen commercials where you have a whole 12 months to try it out. I bought it through my Amazon prime… and just made the mistake of assuming they would offer the same return policy as the Purple company?!? My wife is a lot younger than me… doesn’t have any back problems… she refuses to sleep in our master bedroom because of the Purple mattress. She just can’t sleep on it. She hurts all over in the morning so gave up a long time before I did. I guess I’m spending so much time writing this review in the hopes that someone at Purple or Amazon: (who I spend many thousands of dollars a year with) would stand up and try to make this horrible experience right. We purchased this mattress, excited by its promises of superior quality, but from the very first night, it was a disaster. My lower back pain worsened, and my husband—who had never had back pain—began experiencing it too. We tried to give it time, thinking we just needed to adjust to the mattress and its unusual waffle-like design, but things only got worse. After a week of sleepless nights and increasing pain, we decided to return it. I started the return process through Amazon, but they directed me to the seller, Purple. That’s when the nightmare began. Purple provided a long list of instructions, including contacting their customer service, starting a new email thread, and even handwriting my name and order number on paper, placing it on the mattress, and taking a photo. They also told me I couldn’t return the mattress until I’d used it for 21 days to “allow my body time to adjust.” Those three weeks were torture—every morning, I woke up feeling like my legs were disconnected from my back, and my husband had to start using a foam roller just to cope with the pain. After those excruciating 21 days, I submitted the handwritten note and jumped through all their hoops, only to be told a third-party company would contact me for pickup. Days passed with no contact, and I had to follow up with Purple almost daily. Eventually, they claimed the delay was because the third-party company had my email wrong—ridiculous, since I’d sent them my correct information multiple times. When the company finally reached out, things got even worse. It wasn’t a professional delivery service but a junk removal company. That’s right—the $1,000 mattress we had used for just six nights was now trash. They required me to write “TRASH” all over the mattress, take photos, and submit them for approval. Then they demanded more photos—this time of the room where the mattress was located. The process felt endless and absurd. When the junk removal team arrived, they loaded the mattress onto a truck filled with discarded mattresses bound for the dump. It was shocking and wasteful to see such an expensive product treated this way. Even after the pickup, I had to wait another 3–10 days to get my refund. The entire experience was a nightmare—frustrating, wasteful, and unnecessarily complicated. If you’re considering this mattress, think twice. Go to a store, test one out, and avoid the painful ordeal we went through. This was a waste of time, money, and resources.
