My 45 year old daughter received this fabulous book in one of her very first Scholastic Book orders in First Grade, 1975. It became a favorite of all eight of my children. When my seventh child wanted to order it for her three little ones, we could only find it on Amazon at startlingly high prices, meaning it was obviously out of print and a valuable commodity. Luckily, we were able to order a copy at a reasonable price and are thrilled to have it back in the family, as our original book has fallen apart from constant readings! It is an amazing way for children to recognize sight words, get a rhythm of word flow and fluency, all the while engaging them in the reading process. I hope that the Patty Wolcott 10 Word Readers will find themselves back into print again. As a first grade classroom teacher, I would love to have sets of all of her 10 Word Readers. What a joy and feeling of success beginning readers feel as they are quickly able to master these delightful books and increase their reading vocabulary. The book we ordered was hardbound, as opposed to the softbound we had before, and is in excellent condition. The whole family, 22 grandkids included, couldn't be more thrilled!!

I was discussing childhood books with my husband and this specific book came to mind. I am slowly creating a little library for our future children and to currently share with growing nieces and nephews. The story is precious and has a nice rhythm to it, which helps developing readers catch on. The nice flowing rhythm is quite amusing considering my husband is a band director. When we received this item, it was in wonderful condition and everything my husband remembered it to be. Thank you. I am also a theatre teacher, therefore, I really enjoy reading to others of all ages. (with voices) :)

My brother and I had this book as kids. He’s had an obsession with washers and loves learning about them because of reading this as kids. We lost this book many years ago. He’s going to be 34 and I am giving it to him for his birthday. I can’t wait for him to open it

My niece told me about this book because she loved it as a kid. Although it is hard to find and pretty expensive for a kid's book, it is a collector's item now so an investment! It is a cute story about a little boy who loved mud.... the reader uses their imagination. My granddaughter is in first grade and loved, loved, loved it. We read it all the time and she thinks it is funny every time she reads it.

This was my favorite book when I was a kid back in the 70's. I purchased this for my 5 year old nephew who is learning to read. He likes it too. While the words are repetitive, it reinforces what he is learning as he reads. The pictures are the best part and it is fascinating to see this boy with his mud washing machine contraption, getting cleaned up for dinner. He truly enjoys it and I think it is his favorite too.

The book arrived in excellent condition and before time! It is a cute little book, with wonderful illustrations. Very simple story, with repetitive lines. Great for the story teller to bring alive. I bought it for my 3 year old boy.
