  • Great book set
Format: Paperback
These books are so enjoyable, my children loved reading them. I also loved reading them, it allowed me to be very animated while reading to them, and cause me to laugh when I read them alone. Great books for any age, for anyone who loves to laugh.

  • "The Bad Guys" books 1-5 offer a delightful mix of humor, adventure, and heartwarming moments
Format: Paperback
"The Bad Guys" is a popular children's book series written and illustrated by Aaron Blabey. The series, starting with "The Bad Guys" and followed by subsequent titles, blends humor, adventure, and a quirky cast of characters. Books 1-5 introduce readers to the main characters and set the stage for their hilarious and action-packed escapades. Book 1: The Bad Guys Plot: The series begins by introducing Mr. Wolf, Mr. Shark, Mr. Snake, and Mr. Piranha—four "bad guys" who decide to change their ways and become heroes. Despite their fearsome reputations, they set out to do good deeds, leading to humorous and chaotic situations. Themes: The book explores themes of redemption, friendship, and the idea that everyone deserves a second chance. Humor: The witty dialogue and funny situations are engaging for young readers, making it an enjoyable read. Book 2: Mission Unpluckable Plot: In their second adventure, the gang plans to rescue 10,000 chickens from a high-security cage farm. The mission requires teamwork, courage, and clever tactics, often leading to comical mishaps. Character Development: The characters' personalities begin to shine through, with each member contributing uniquely to the mission. Illustrations: The dynamic and expressive illustrations add to the humor and excitement, making the story visually engaging. Book 3: The Furball Strikes Back Plot: The Bad Guys face their arch-nemesis, Dr. Marmalade, a nefarious guinea pig. Their mission to thwart his evil plans is filled with unexpected twists and hilarious moments. Action and Suspense: This installment ramps up the action and introduces elements of suspense, keeping readers on the edge of their seats. Humor and Wit: The clever humor continues to be a highlight, appealing to both kids and adults. Book 4: Attack of the Zittens Plot: The gang encounters a new threat—zombie kittens (Zittens). Their attempts to deal with this bizarre situation lead to a series of funny and unpredictable events. Creativity: The introduction of Zittens showcases Blabey's creativity and ability to keep the series fresh and exciting. Character Dynamics: The interactions among the characters become more nuanced, deepening the readers' connection to them. Book 5: Intergalactic Gas Plot: The Bad Guys' latest adventure takes them to outer space, where they must stop a villainous plot involving alien gas. The high-stakes mission combines humor, action, and a touch of science fiction. World-Building: The space setting adds a new dimension to the series, expanding its scope and offering new storytelling opportunities. Educational Elements: While primarily humorous, the book also introduces some basic science concepts in a fun way. Pros and Cons Pros: Engaging and humorous storytelling Quirky and likable characters Fast-paced plots with plenty of action and adventure Visually appealing illustrations Positive messages about friendship and redemption Cons: Some humor might be too silly for older readers The formulaic structure might feel repetitive over multiple books Conclusion "The Bad Guys" books 1-5 offer a delightful mix of humor, adventure, and heartwarming moments. Aaron Blabey's engaging storytelling and lively illustrations make these books a hit with young readers. They provide an entertaining and positive reading experience, emphasizing the value of friendship and the possibility of change, making them a great addition to any child's bookshelf. ... show more

  • Easy beginner reading level, minimal words per page
Format: Paperback
My five year old grandson, who cried when he opened these, ( because he didn’t want books for Christmas) devoured the whole set in a day and a half! He loved them! I will say that there is minimal words to read on the pages, which might be a great thing for a very early reader. Definitely beneath his reading level, but humorous and held his attention. ... show more
