  • GREAT KIT!
This was a very interesting project that my kids and I loved doing. I was amazed to find you get to assemble the tires and suspension system. This made it even more exciting. We purchased the not included items, and think this buggy is pretty darn quick. Speed and torque can be increased by simply changing your gears and pinion.Great kit! ... show more

  • Great Car!
Just like the original same quality with an esc upgrade and dogbones replacing the old hex-shafts , fun to build and a blast to drive, I had the original back in 1983 or 4 , they didn't change much still great quality with a few upgrades

  • Just as fun as the original
Kit comes with nice upgrades over the Subaru Brat kit for less. Some actual ball bearings for the gearbox, aluminum oil filled rear shocks, skid plate, and an electric speed controller. The speed controller does not appear to have a braking function though. Instructions are great, but folks under 13 will still need help from an adult. Have not gotten to the shell yet but I didn't see and pre cut masks for the windows, which would be nice if there were there. Great kit! ... show more

  • High nostalga value
Smaug's review really sums up this buggy well. I purchased the Frog for nostalgia's sake to be a back-yard basher. In this, the Frog excels. It is by no means capable on an R/C track. The biggest problem is that the rear dog bone axles will pop out after landing a hard jump or as a result of a roll over. Luckily the rubber boot will likely keep the dog bone from being lost but the chances are quite high that the dog bone will rip a hole in the boot. I *strongly* suggest purchasing a ball bearing kit like Tamiya Frog Sealed Bearing Kit. If you want a more modern buggy and prefer to stick with Tamiya, consider the Tamiya 58374 1/10 Sand-Viper Kit. This is probably the best all-around buggy you can get. It's suitable as a basher and with some strategic hop-ups it can become a capable racer. The Sand Viper is based on Tamiya's DT-02 chassis. As such, the list of available hop-ups is actually pretty amazing so the car can grow with you. So unless you really have your heart set on buying a Frog (like I did) your money is definitely better spent on a different car. I have a detailed build-it video series up on YouTube for the Frog. • 80’s flashback
Awesome flashback from my 80’s youth! Easy and fun to build. It is very fast with the stock motor. Drove it a few times and love it.

  • Making Up for Not Having One as a Kid
Faster delivery than expected, and just like the original from the 80's. Only beef would be that it didn't include the ESC which seems to be sometimes included based on the other reviews.

  • Family fun
This was the same Frog I built 25 years ago as a young teen. This frog has some nice upgrades as compared to that one, electronic speed controller and faster stock motor that came in the kit. My son(13) and I built it in about 5 hours with no problem. Then the next day I painted the body. Great project and it teaches the kids how RC cars work. ... show more
