    • Excellent medium security bike lock
The "Hendrix" folding lock is very well made and offers a nice balance of compact size, medium security and reasonably light weight (approx. 1.5 lbs). This is a definitely a step up in security from a typical cable lock and is probably equivalent to a small, medium security U lock, but is much more compact and weighs less (the lightest U-locks I'm aware of weigh at least 2 lbs.). It seems like an ideal lock for coffee stops on club rides (which is how I use it) where a massive U-lock would be overkill but a cable lock leaves you feeling nervous. However, I would avoid using it for long term lock-ups or in a particularly high crime area. It fits nicely inside a small pack, and also comes with a mounting bracket that attaches to water bottle bosses. Great product - highly recommended. ... show more

I have full faith in the solidity of this lock to protect my bike if I'm taking some cafe time at the end of a ride. Unfolds to about the size of a U-lock, and I'm not sure anything other than a hacksaw would work against it. It fits perfectly in a jersey pocket; I live in a very hot climate so I can't spare the extra bottle mount. However, I wouldn't bring it on a hilly ride or a serious training ride; it weighs a pound and a half, which is quite a lot to lug around and I am concerned about it wearing on my pockets, so cheap jerseys only. ... show more

Awesome but flawed. This lock is, in many ways, ideal for me. The length is fine and it's very compact. I am impressed with the overall design. The problem is that the lock mechanism began to stick after getting slightly wet one time. I was very lucky to get it to unlock once and thought I might have to go Home Depot to buy something to cut it. I applied a great deal of torque to the key during a final attempt and fortunately the lock popped open before the key broke. After that, I soaked the locking mechanism in lubricant and as long as I keep it well lubricated the mechanism catches but does not stick closed. This is so unfortunate. The lock seems well thought out but the sticky mechanism is seriously concerning. I'm on the fence about whether to recommend. I love it but am vey concerned it will leave me stranded someday. If you purchase it, I'd definitely preemptively lubricate the locking mechanism. ... show more
