  • Great scanner at the right price point!
This scanner is so easy to use and gives great results! No cropping needed. You have to scan in each one individually, but it's quick, and a lot of pictures won't batch scan anyways since they stick together, so I wasn't concerned about that feature. So happy to finally find a scanner where I don't have to lift the lid to place. I've scanned thousands of old photos as well as documents & memorabilia. Highly satisfied at a great price! ... show more

  • I Love This Scanner
Like many others, I have multiple boxes of old photos, and I've started on the project of converting them to digital images. I put a lot of time into researching photo scanners, and the ones I was interested in were pretty pricey. Timewise, this project is out of the question using the flatbed scanner available in my printer. After a lot of research, I decided on this Plustek scanner. I've had it for about 7 or 8 months now, and I love it. You can scan up to 50 photos at a time with no buttons or adjustments - just feed the photos in one at a time. At 300dpi, the process is fast. The images drop into Plustec's software, and you have the ability to do some editing and color adjustment. I've found that this software works well for me, is easy to use, and is all I need. I just want to get all these photos scanned in and organized and I'm not terribly interested in any serious editing at this point. I'm especially happy with the color enhancement that's available for those old color photos from decades past that are fading or turning yellow - it really gives those photos new life, just by clicking on a button or two. I have other photo editing software on my laptop, and I'll worry about serious editing later, if I even decide to go that far. After I've made any quick color adjustments, I just move the photos onto my hard drive, where I can organize them., and save them on an external hard drive. The Plustek scanner does a great job and has a very attractive price tag. The user manual is detailed and very helpful. I've heard good things about the customer service, but I haven't needed to use it. There's also a case available for it here on Amazon, and I keep it in the case on my desk to eliminate dust. The scanner doesn't take up much room on the desk, so I keep it there to work on my scanning project when I have a little extra time. I recommend this scanner for anybody who's looking to tackle a photo archiving project without breaking the bank. ... show more

  • SO disappointed! Updated, Great little scanner!
Update: I changed from a one star to a 4 star. I returned the first scanner as you can see below. However, I loved the size and ease so much and there were so many positive reviews that my husband bought me another one. Once again the green line showed up. I decided to contact the manufacturer before returning this one. I was told the green line appears because of dust and to clean the lens. WOW, WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!! It takes time as I need to check each picture, thus a 4 star review instead of 5 stars, but it's a great little scanner!!! I searched and searched for the right scanner and this seemed to be the best for my budget. I had read the reviews where the pictures ended up having lines in them, but there were so many positive reviews, that I decided to take a chance. I scanned about 150 photos before the line started showing up. I re calibrated and that didn't help, so I shut the machine down and left it over night. Got up this morning and tried again and the lines are still there. I am SO disappointed as it worked so well, the program that comes with it works well and all the pictures until the green lines showed up were beautiful. I hope they can fix this to make it work right. It scanned fast even at 600 dpi, it small and easy to use. ... show more

  • Fast, easy-to-use, and high quality images
LOVE this photo scanner. I had been looking for a way to quickly digitize prints and provide decent quality. My HP flatbed printer scanner is way too slow. A friend recommended the Plustek Z300, and it works great. You just feed the photo into the roller scanner and it scans it and shoots it out about as fast as you can load it. (You have to load each one, no batch processing.) SCAN SPEED: At 300 dpi, it zips prints through faster than I can load them. Even at 600 dpi, it's pretty fast. Scans small prints to enlargements of 8x10 or 8.5x11. IMAGE QUALITY: I'm a photographer, so I'm pretty picky about my images. The image quality straight from the machine is pretty good if the photo was shot in daylight. If it was shot in other lighting or the photo is faded, it may need some correction, but the editing software makes it quick and easy to correct once you learn the various functions. Way faster than using Photoshop to open each photo and adjust. I use 300 dpi for most photos and 600 dpi for photos that are special/important. EASY TO INSTALL: It comes with the application software on a CD or you can download it from their website. Was super easy to download and start using. Pretty intuitive to use. PROS: Good image quality, fast, small desktop footprint. Works with PC or MAC. CONS: Sometimes, it's a little tricky lining up the photo straight to be fed into the scanner. Would be nice if there was some adjustable edge guide you could line it up with. Although if you're a little crooked, the software will auto correct. Because it's a roller feed, you can't scan pages in a book. But that's what a flatbed scanner is for. Be sure your photos are dust free or it will show up in the scan. OVERALL: If you have a bunch of photos you need to archive/scan, this will do the trick with minimal hassle. Great way to digitize an entire photo album or shoebox (however you store them) quickly. Highly recommend this! ... show more
