I've been using this for over a decade does not seem to be Paul Mitchell's detangler. Smells like vasoline intensive care lotion.

I've used this product in the past, but this was my first time buying it on Amazon and the first time buying the 33.8 ounce size. It did not have the velvety richness I was used to. I have very curly hair and it knots a lot when I wear it in a loose bun. I am used to The Detangler getting those stubborn knots out, but this particular one did not do the trick. My hair is very fine, so it’s hard to find a good conditioner that works, but doesn’t weigh my hair down. This is it. I first tried this conditioner at a hotel I stayed in. I asked for a couple more of the little bottles at the hotel, and even before I used it all, I was ordering a bottle. It rinses so easily, and my hair is so soft. Gross. Filmy. Stinky. Bleh. If you like things that smell good- this is not that. Reminds me of a heavy, medicated, lotion that is supposedly unscented but instead fills your olfactory senses with sadness. It’s function is similar to its scent- filled with sadness. The first time I used it, the film left behind was so thick that I was afraid I forgot to rinse. The 2nd time I used it, I rinsed aggressively. Paul Mitchell 'The Detangler' is a must for color treated and especially color treated long hair. I worked in the Beauty industry for years and understand the chemistry behind it. It has a low ph, which closes and smoothes the cuticle of the hair. If you color at home, us this immediately after and you will notice a big difference in how your hair feels and how long your color lasts. All Paul Mitchell products contain the highest quality ingredients and are manufactured by a company you can be proud to patronize. I have waist length hair and I use this on top of other conditioner every time I shampoo and concentrate it on the ends. The price for the 33 oz. size on Amazon is fantastic compared to any other retail outlets or salons. Great product, consistently detangles. Add after shampoo and in a minute or less hair is soft and detangles easily. Leave on for 5 minutes for even easier detangle. My scalp was dry and itching but not after using this conditioner. Hair feels so clean. After using my old hair conditioner I would have to use a detangler spray but with Paul Mitchell conditioner I don’t have to use any sprays to detangler my hair comes out very nicely.

It did not work as well as much cheaper conditioners that I did not think would work as well like the purple ausie one? I 4g the exact name but no one cost me like $5 and worked much better. I was shocked as well but it's just the truth I like to be honest in my reviews. I have had more knots in my hair lately due to not being able to get it cut that I have ever and ended up pulling out a lot of it... There were it was looking for the absolute best detangler conditioners or hair mask there was and to find that this extremely cheap drugstore brand was probably the best was a surprise to me as well. Now I need to find some shampoos and conditioners that will help me gain the thickness that I always hated to my hair back LOL ... show more
