I really hadn’t thought much about my Otterbox that I’ve had for about two years because it works so well. It’s actually on the phone that I’m using for this review. I keep my phone in my pocket and my old otterbox for the iPhone 8 allowed a lot of dirt and debris under the screen protector. This case is awesome!! The iPhone 16 Pro Max is considered a larger phone but the Otterbox Defender manages to fit it snugly and securely. With next level drop protection and full access to all buttons + a closing hatch that covers your charging port, what more do you need!?

I bought this for my other half. As a family we love the otterbox brand. While it is on the pricey side it's worth this amount of money. It thoroughly protects your phone. This one is easy to put on and take off.

I enjoy this case and have used it on all my other iPhones. I’ve found they’ve gotten easier to remove and install over the years which is great. They’ve increased protection around the camera this year compared to my last which is good. However, I do not like how there is not as much protection for the screen now (not raised on the sides). Also—as others have mentioned, the camera button cutout is poorly designed. Hurts my hand when I hold the phone, makes it feel unprotected, and could have easily been better. Good value for the money, and the design has stayed mostly consistent over the years, which is great—but the Camera cutout continues to be a disappointment and makes the case feel less protective. In my experience the case is functional and I use the anti slip capability a lot. However, in terms of its wireless charging performance, I have not had a great experience. I am unable to get a very fast charge from a MagSafe charger and the case gets hotter than I’d like. However, I’m very happy with the magnetic grip, it’s very strong and better than I expected. Disappointed they removed the plastic belt clip but you can still get it for free luckily with a provided in the box code. Overall, great case as always. ... show more

While the current OtterBox Defender cases do not currently come with a belt clip, they offer it for FREE by mail. There’s a promo code inside the package that you can use to redeem the free belt clip, shipping included. This is as of July 2025. I’ve been using OtterBox for over a decade and their cases are phenomenal compared to everything else on the market. There is one small “notch” on the current case that has me concerned for long term use. The iPhone 16 Pro Max has a dedicated camera button on the lower right side. This button sits flush with the frame of the phone. There is NO protection over this button, instead there is a notch molded into the OtterBox case where this section, approximately 1”, is exposed. It might be fine long term, but on initial impression it has me a little concerned. On the plus side, this notch gives my fingers a little extra edge to grip. Otherwise, the case feels terrific on the phone, with nice grip texture. ... show more

I have always used OtterBox defenders on my iPhones! They are incredibly durable and well made. It isn’t too bulky, and provides great grip. I genuinely believe that they are well worth the price! The design is sleek and slim with wonderful grip. I love that they integrated the capability to use mag-safe in this case, as all the previous defenders I have purchased did not offer that capability! So happy that they worked that into this line of defender cases, I find these to be the most durable of all the otterbox cases they offer. ... show more
