While I really wanted a smaller, lighter backpack for trekking in Peru, this is the one I will be taking. All the smaller backpack were "one size fits most" backpacks and they don't fit me. I am 6' 2"" with very broad shoulders, and those other backpacks didn't sit right on my shoulders or hips. This Osprey backpack works as it is tall/large. Yes, it is 3 1/2 pounds or so, so heavier than I wanted. But it fits, and it has lots of adjustments, so if I do need to adjust while trekking it, I can do it easily. I am probably going to carry a lot, lot less than the max weight of this backpack. More like 30 pounds rather 55. But as I have already written, the smaller backpacks seems more suited to smaller individuals. I also like the fact the backpack holds a water bladder and has a hole for the bladder's water hose to go through. Very handy. ... show more

This rucksack is the best. Great for shorter trips. Would recommend something bigger for longer thru-hikes. Figuring out how it works is so intuitive, you don’t even need instructions (they are included though). Osprey earns its reputation!

Used pack for 50 mile segment of CDT in Colorado. Pack was comfortable and able to carry food tent etc. without problem. May be a little large for ultra lite thru hikers but for me worked fine. One feature which was more an annoyance and took getting used to was the design of the pockets for water bottles. The cross straps that cross the pocket could cause difficulty in put bottles back easily. ... show more
