I am basically hapy with this microscope. Now that I've figured out how to use it well, it is easy to use and has reasonable quality. There is no instructive documentation that comes with it, so it took me a while to figure out how the camera connects to the software. When th USB connects, the camera does not show up as a device on the computer. It does show up as a device in the provided software. By clicking on that item, the canera connects to the software after you tell it that i's ok to use your computer's portrait camera. After that, it shows what you are seeing through the microscope, except that the field of view is less than that seen by eye. Once I got it all working, it is serving my needs very well ... show more

Well... I called customer service, got voicemail. I called Tech Support, got voicemail. I'm having SO many problems with this microscope. First, nothing changes when I move the slide to the east or to the west, to the north or to the south (as one looks at a flat map)... it's as though there's a permanent picture stuck to the lenses. Even when I change slides, there's a permanent foot-looking thing in the same place in the field of vision. The software for the camera is really crazy. It shows the device name, but when I click on it, a screen appears that says "Access is denied" .... ARGHHH. I'm thinking this must have been a "used" item. I'm thinking it's gonna be returned. I'm thinking I'll buy a better one. I sent the thing back. A refund was authorized. It was sent LAST week via UPS with all the appropriate return labels etc., and it was received by the seller last week. No refund. No answer. No customer service. Next... I'll be seeking legal counsel over the $$ that should have been refunded to my credit card but hasn't been. I paid the seller promptly. Seems the seller would refund the $$ to me by now. Still no refund. 05/09/2021. In the meantime, I pay interest on my purchase. ... show more

Seems like a great microscope and works, so far, with no problems. Be aware there is NOTHING included in the box. No manual, list of parts, directions, setup info, inventory list (what's in the box), inspected by ... With some searching, a manual was available on the internet/Omax site. My box had been opened and resealed ... as far as I can tell, nothing missing. Viewing head was NOT screwed on and came off when microscope removed from foam/plastic bag. It was well packed (a good thing), since the box was obviously dropped and had a dent in one corner. ... show more

The microscope is just fine, but the camera and the accompanying software are very poor quality. If you are buying this to be able to record images, don't. The quality is poor and the software is not user friendly. You will spend a significant amount of time just trying to figure out how to use it just to realize that it is simply crappy software (which is fitting, because it is a crappy camera). I am using it on a Mac. Maybe the PC software is better, but the camera itself isn't very good. ... show more
