The Neat Tools NEW COMPACT Handle Release Kit is designed for quick, reliable removal and reattachment of the handle on the Milwaukee PACKOUT Rolling Toolbox (48-22-8426). This upgraded system makes it easy to fit your rolling toolbox into car trunks, service vehicles, truck beds with tonneau covers, and other tight spaces where handle height is an issue. This 2026 COMPACT design is the successor to our original pin kit and improves on everything we learned from earlier versions. The redesigned mounting location keeps the hardware further out of the way from curbs and obstacles, while the new tab-style release and reworked internal mechanism deliver a smoother, more intuitive lock and unlock action. Each latch now uses only two mounting screws, reducing drilling and permanent modification to your toolbox. Built with thicker stainless steel pins and a UV- and heat-resistant polymer housing, this kit is designed for everyday use while maintaining a clean look that matches PACKOUT aesthetics. Installation is quick and straightforward with a simple 5-step process. This is actually the second set of these that I have purchased. The first set I bought are still installed in my Packout and are still working, but both of them are now messed up, which is why I bought a replacement set. I use my Packout daily for my job and drive a car so I need to be able to stand up the Packout base in my trunk. These have worked brilliantly for that purpose for over a year now. However, as I said both of them have issues. The left one no longer snaps into place on its own so I have to line it up by eye and push on it while sliding the handle up to get it to seat back into place. Its definitely an inconvenience, but again it still works. The other one of mine is bent and is barely seating into place at all. Eventually my original ones will need to be replaced with these, but I'll continue using them until one of them stops working completely. I docked one star off of the durability rating, but overall I rated these five stars. I remove and replace the handle on my packout base a minimum of twice a day, 6 days a week. For these to have lasted well over a year now, I'm very happy. As far as installation goes, if you are the kind of person who carries the Packout daily for work, you shouldn't have any trouble installing these. Took me 5 minutes and there were no complications. It is a little tricky and the holes need to be drilled carefully (precise and straight), but again that shouldn't be a problem for anyone who uses a Packout on a daily basis. If you don't do a lot of drilling, it might be tricky for you. I wouldn't recommend "winging it" because if you screw it up you won't be able to fix it or try again. ... show more

I give this product a 5 star their new 2026 quick release hanlde is amazing and much easier and better than tbeir old model highly recommend this product definitly worth the price and it looks durable aswell they definitly took it up a notch good job neat tools!!

    • Original versions can have the handle removed easily.
If your Stackpack base does not have the removable handle then consider this kit. Kit is well supported with the custom 3D printed spacer for the holes and screws. You will need to have the proper drill bits for the process.

    • Doesn’t secure handle. Pin is too small
This did not secure the handle of my pack out. Followed the directions exactly as stated. Noticed that the Allen key screws did not secure it to the box. Then when I got it secured, the pins would not hold the handle in the pack out. Buy with caution as THIS PRODUCT DID NOT WORK FOR MY PACKOUT.

Install was very easy, just make sure you have a drill bit for metal when drilling the 7/32 holes for the pins. Wood bits were fine for the plastic. The factory installed screws at the bottom of the tool box caused the metal to protrude and drag on the plastic while installing and removing, so I took the opportunity to smooth that out with a larger metal drill bit. Build quality seems good and the included drilling template made install straightforward . I’ll get to put it to the test in a few weeks when I’m walking around NYC with my tools. For now I’m glad I can close the cover in my hatchback with the handle removed. ... show more

    • Cheap but nice
Right side gets stuck and have to use a plyers to get it open. But it is pretty nice to take off the handles in my small car
