This is a review for the Maxi-Mist Lite Sunless Spray Tanning Kit. This review is after a year of use. For the husbands spraying their wives....... Let me first start off by saying.... YES, THIS IS WORTH THE $200 BUCKS. MANY,MANY TIMES OVER. JUST CLICK BUY AND YOU WILL THANK ME LATER. Let me next say....It is much easier than you think, you will not be perfect when you begin, but you can definitely do it. Trust me. Back in IL, tanning and spray tanning was a subscription service; typically could range for regular tanning ($10-$15 a month unlimited) and spray tanning packages (4 for $30 a month, low tier solution). Well fast forward when we move to Texas, holy smokes prices were through the roof. $30 a month for just regular tanning and $50 a month for 4 spray tans. That's where I drew the line in the sand. Research,Research, Research, landed on Maxi-Mist unit. Great unit, will last forever, still have it, never broke, still using it today. So you are wondering now... how do I spray my wife and not make her look horrible so she will leave the house aka so you don't have to hear complaining! Practice makes perfect. Less is more. Take it slow. My rule of thumb is pour 3oz of liquid and use about 2-2.5oz. The reason I do this is the unit is going to have trouble spraying out every last drop of the solution and it will start spurting liquid at the end. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nossle: For chest, face, neck, back, rear end, stomach = go side to side. For legs, arms, and sidebody = go up and down. Shoot her from about 8-12 inches away from her body, if you start to see liquid dripping, you are too close, back up. Tip: Tightening the screw controlling the amount of spray and open it 2 twists, at max 3. If you are burning through the solution, you have it on way too high. If you constantly see dripping, you have it on way too high. I always like "less is more" because if you get done with your spray and still have 1-1.5oz left, no worries, just do a lighter 2nd coat. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tent: Seems a few people cant figure out how to collapse the tent... just practice then it is 2nd nature. You kinda of move your arms over each other. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Solution: The level of DHA % will tell you how dark the solution is going to turn out. I like the darker stuff on my wife so 12-14% DHA for sure. However, you can't just keep raising the DHA and expect it to turn out. There is a level where the skin won't reflect that level...diminishing returns. I presume 8-12% will work on most skin. Start low and move higher. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Solution Brand: I have tested all the major brands that a consumer can acquire... from the super expensive ones to super cheap ones. You can find Salon grade solutions if you search hard enough. I'm not a paid marketing rep for any solution companies so they can market themselves.... or pay me ;) (tough chance on that). I have narrowed down to 3 of the better solutions that I use on my wife. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frequency of spraying/ How long will it last: Highly dependent on a few things.... 1. Make sure you wife is exfoliating before the spray tan and moisturizing with a GOOD product after showering. 2. The brand of spray tan. *Take time to find the right one... I have found the good ones will last 4, maybe 5 days. The crappy ones will last 2-3. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When to spray: Do it at night after she showers. Let it soak in overnight and rinse off in the morning. You will see the best results. It might be obvious but sleep on a separate blanket! You will stain your bed sheets easily. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Best Practices on cleaning the unit: After you are done spraying, pour the rest of the solution back into the bottle carefully. I then fill of the sprayer solution container with hot water and put it back onto the unit. Turn the sprayer on full spray and spray the water directly into the sink. This should keep the gun clean for a while. Once a quarter, I would recommend using the Cleaner solution that you can find on Amazon. This will really open up your sprayer and keep the parts clean. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Will edit if I think of any other tips..... Just think of all the money you save with this simple process. Just think of all the "other" benefits too ;)

If you are someone who gets a spray tan a few times a year, this will pay for itself & the convenience of being able to do it on your own time, in your own home, is wonderful. I was shocked to see how inexpensive this system was, being that I typically pay anywhere from $35-$60 each time I get sprayed at a salon & having a daughter who also gets spray tanned occasionally, this will end up saving us a lot of money. PROS: *This is a compact system & once the tent is folded up & put into the carrying bag it comes with, you won't need a ton of space for storage. *The machine itself, when turned on, is comparable to the sound of a running the vacuum, maybe a little bit louder, but not super loud. *This is lightweight, not bulky & easy to carry, so it's great for mobile use *Very easy to understand instructions on how to put this together & get started spraying. This was a big concern for me when it arrived. I was excited to open the box & try it out, but was afraid that I wouldn't be able to put it together myself or would need help doing so & I was really pleased, almost shocked, to see how simple it was to get started. *The amount of money you will save on salon visits or paying for a mobile spray *The convenience of getting sprayed or spraying yourself on YOUR time, especially if you need/want sprayed asap or last minute, you won't have to try to get in somewhere or make an appointment & wait, or drive to a salon. *Extra containers included are really convenient CONS: *The only con I had with this purchase was the solution it came with....I have tried all 3 solutions & they have all turned either myself or my daughter orange, whereas other solutions have not. Since the solution provided with this kit was listed as free, I didn't let that effect my rating. TIPS: *Practice first by spraying a white poster board using water & a few drops of food color. You can change the way the gun sprays-either horizontal or vertical, so practice seeing which way you're most comfortable with first & how far away you should be spraying so it won't drip or run...then you won't end up wasting tanning solution figuring everything out. *So you get in the habit of cleaning your gun after each spray, since you get extra solution containers with this system, before you spray, fill one of your extra containers with hot water so when your done, you can attach that container for cleaning your gun & not forget to do it. Spray the water into the sink until its coming out clear. *A foam paintbrush will help even out any drips or runs *If you get solution on your hands, washing your hands with dawn dish soap will take off the stains. I spilled a bottle of tanning solution while I was getting ready to spray & my hands were covered...My regular hand soap did nothing & I had almost black palms, washing my hands with the dawn dish soap a few times, did the trick & palms wern't even orange! *Always put more solution in your container then your planning on using...with this system, if the containers almost empty, it doesn't spray evenly & spits out solution...Whatever you don't use, you can pour back into the bottle since it's not in contact with skin. *If your using a ton of solution or its dripping on the skin, turn your dial down on the gun & unscrew the nozzle, tip of the gun, one or two turns. You will see a huge difference in how it sprays. I hope this review helps if you're trying to figure out whether or not to make the investment & purchase this kit. I would highly suggest it as it's simple to use, you get professional results & this will end up saving you money.

Color: No Tent - Elite Lite
I purchased this spray tanner after reading many reviews and comparisons on about a dozen different systems. I am not disappointed at all with this one! I purchased it to use on myself, and it is a tad tricky the first couple times, but I think that I finally have it figured out! Once comfortable and familiar with how it works, it is wonderful. Leaves a smooth, even tan. Fast and easy to use. It comes with 3 levels of tanning solution, which is very helpful. I am excited to show off my new tan and am so thankful that I ordered my own airbrush system because it will save me so much money. In my area, an airbrush tan is $40-50. I don't mind paying that here and there for special occasions. But, I would like to keep a tan all summer long. For me that is around 4-5 months. I live in the North East with a short warm weather season. If I get a tan once a week at the salon, I am looking at upwards of $800+ a season, which would be the minimum, and that would include extra times throughout the off season or tipping. The small investment in this system pays for itself many times over every season! And the best news is, that I plan on having a year round glow for pennies on the dollar. I am so excited! I would highly recommend the MaxiMist Lite to anyone looking for a reliable, affordable and easy to use spray tan system. The machine and tanning solutions are all top notch and I don't think will disappoint!
