I have 2 of these now, it is just as nice as my shimano slx dc reels. For lighter baits I prefer this reel over reels that go for double the price. All around great reel for the money. You can go wrong at this price point. Your getting a reel that if I paid 200 for it still feel like it was a deal.

Got the left handed version because that's more natural for me. (I've used spinning reals for most of my life) Just opened the box. Right off the bat... Super smooth action. I'm not sure if reels get smoother than this, considering I've been using an ancient Abu Garcia baitcaster, but if they do you don't really need it. First thing I did was give the spool a little spin and then blew on it and it spead up and spun for ever. The knob that engages the break is large and easy to get to. The clicks when you adgust the drag are satisfying. The magnetic break works really well and it's pretty comfy when you wrap your fingers around it. The cut out around the spool is massive so if you're someone who fishes with gloves on it'll be no problem to get your thumb on the spool. I'm not sure how my rod and line will cooperate but you might be able to throw ultra light lures with it. Haven't put it through it's paces but I'll come back after I've whomped on it a bit (and hopefully in the process caught some fish) and give an update Sorry for potato quality pictures. I've been using Lew's for a while now. It came time to replace an old reel and I bought a Daiwa Fuego on the advice of others. It's disappointing. It works, but sounds like sandpaper. Next time, I bought a Lew's LFS and for a little less $$$ and the quality is way better. It's my jig rod, so it'll take some abuse. Great all around reel for less than $100. ... show more

Been using speed spools for years for $99 you canโ€™t beat them. Keep them clean and lubed like any reel and they will last a long time. Not to mention they are comfortable Iโ€™m the hand and smooth casting.
