This VX5HD 3-16 w/Windplex reticle is all the power I need and only weighs 19oz. Once I develop the load I will put a custom dial on it. Then all I have to do is range, dial the range and the windplex reticle is sufficient to deal with the wind without having to dial.. The optics are bright and clear, and the reticle is easy to see when peering into dark timber areas. I did not buy an illuminated reticle and do not regret that decision at all. I can easily see before and after legal shooting light so no regrets there. The power is all I need, and now that I have removed the 2.5lb boat anchor scope and installed this Leupold my rifle is light and comfortable to hunt with. American made, lifetime warranty-what's not to like! ... show more

Box was open no plastic covering.. Scope had dirt on it. After Cleaning the scope , everything else seems to be working okay probably was a display model.

I've only taken this out to 100 yards, but the glass is bright and clear, holds zero no problem. Basically just point and click at that range. We actually used my scope to spot my buddy's shots since he was using a cheaper scope on his rifle. The turrets have a nice tactile click at 0.25 MOA per. It has a side parallax adjustment so the reticle doesn't shift across the target if your head moves. Just adjust the eyepiece first for clarity against the sky then adjust parallax for distance to target. The reticle is just as I like it. Not too busy. It only has hashes on the horizontal. That means I dial for elevation and hold for wind. ... show more

This is easily the best piece of glass I've ever looked through. It's clear, bright, doesn't fog. This optic has won awards for being best in class. Stop reading start buying. Practically speaking, 3/4 MOA with milsurp M80 ball from a Rainier 20" .308 barrel. I have no formal long range training. This needs to be part of your system. ... show more

Great scope so far. Amazing glass, very clear. The only thing I didn’t like is that the windage adjustment turret seems very cheap. It feels like plastic and the clicks are very quiet and mushy. The elevation turret is fantastic though, very tactile with a audible click. When it showed up it was in an open box with no cushioning around the scope box. Which is pretty scary considering the price of the scope. All in all I am happy with the scope and would recommend buying one if you are looking to shoot a little farther. I wouldn’t buy it through Amazon though with how poor their packaging was. ... show more
