  • Excellent Value and Quality for the Money. A+++ Customer Service
Style: Router Table
First off; if you haven't used any Kreg products and worked with the Customer Service they are absolutely top drawer! They understand the value of not buying the cheapest product available and providing excellent CS experience to supplement pretty good values in their product. Now for the router table: great addition to my workshop. I love how I can move it into play and out of play very easily. Well made and designed, and provides a lot of features like JOINTING. A jointer can cost easily as much as this table. As with most Kreg products, assembly is not very simple. It's well engineered, but also designed to be low cost shipping and low-cost assembly from a Kreg perspective. They likely have the product shipped in from China to their specifications, and turn and ship it directly to you with some instructions manuals added; which by the way, they are excellent. This table has become quickly one of my most important tools, and it's certainly not the most expensive one. ... show more

  • Quality product, overall good buy
Style: Router Table
So up front, I don't give five stars unless a product really hits a homerun. This router table is quite good, no doubt about that, but its not perfect. With that said: At $249, its kind of on the pricey side for a portable router table. Some of the competing tables in this category are less expensive and often come with an on/off switch and featherboards, which this does not. By the time I bought a switch and featherboards, I was pushing $300. If you already have these accessories on hand, that won't matter. However, I chose this model because I felt it had some features that were worthwhile. 1- the plate leveling system is excellent. 2- The router plate itself is excellent. 3- and the jointing rods that fit behind the fence are a GREAT feature for me since edge jointing small boards was among my primary purposes for a router table. I included a picture of my table. As you can see, I added a shelf on the bottom of the table stand where I can store wrenches and other supplies. If I don't keep this stuff WITH the router table, they'll inevitably get lost. Other tables in this price range (and less) have enclosed stands, and you don't need to do this. I also added an apron to mount the Ryobi brand switch. Again, other tables come with a switch. I chose the Ryobi because it was half the price of the Kreg switch and most other switches. I didn't realize until after I received the table that Kreg sells a package that comes with a switch for like an extra 20 bucks. I recommend you go that route since the Kreg switch will mount to the Kreg table easier. Buying the switch separately is like an extra $40. The FENCE- I've read some other reviews that bash the design, and claim it doesn't work well for them. Mine works fine. Really, it works great. I have zero issues with it. I do doubt the longevity of the plastic parts that the cam locking mechanism is made from. But so far, so good. At least its not 'cheap' plastic. It might go the distance. We'll see. And Kreg probably offers replacement parts if it ever becomes an issue. I've ran a few pieces over this router since putting it together, and I am pleased. Jointing and edge shaping works as it should. Definitely less vibration and noise than my old craftsman router table. All steel construction is very sturdy, and the paint job seems durable. The steel construction might explain the additional price. Of course, part of the reduce vibration and noise is the router itself (Bosch 1617 2.25hp). I've never really used the miter slot on a router table before aside from featherboards, and probably won't with this one either. It looks fine to me, but I won't comment either way. Anyway, I was looking for a good quality, benchtop table that wouldn't cost an absolute fortune. The Kreg cost a little more than it should, considering the lack of accessories. But I think it'll serve me well for years, and it has some features that I really wanted. So its a winner. No buyer's remorse. ... show more

  • First and Only Router Table
Style: Router Table
I've owned the Kreg PRS2100 Router Table for about 10 years. This was the first router table that I ever bought and it has never been replaced because it is capable of doing what I need it to. Over the years I tuned it after initial assembly which has kept it relevant as my demands on it increased. I will detail this in my review. I chose to use a Bosch 1617 router in my router table because it allows for above the table router bit height micro adjustments without a router lift. I did find it difficult to mount the router into the insert because of the precision involved in centering the base. However, I eventually decided to replace my original insert because I noticed it sagging. I am not sure if the sagging was due to the effect of the weight of the router over time or if it came like that from the factory. I had plans to simplify the insert centering process but by the time I replaced it, Kreg offered pre-drilled inserts for the Bosch 1617, so I bought one of those which made mounting much easier. After carefully adjusting the insert via leveling screws, it seems that the new insert is a bit flatter. I like the fence and find it reliable and precise, contrary to what others have said. I can see why people dislike the fence because at first, it was finicky to dial the knobs due to the tightening mechanism. For me, the biggest issue I had with the fence was that it was not square to the table top when it was tightened and there is no mechanism to adjust it. I remedied this by shimming the fence strategically. This took a fair amount of time. The dust collection was poor initially because the Kreg router table only comes with a 2 1/2" fence mounted dust port and leaves a large amount of dust to fall under the table. I found some 3D printed parts for the Bosch 1617 including a 2 1/2" dust port and some covers which seal the router openings under the table. I connected the two 2 1/2" dust ports with a "Y" to a 4" flexible hose for my dust collector. This system collects most of the dust that the router creates. When I checked the flatness of the router table top, I found some areas which were approximately 1/64" low. I was a little disappointed when I found this, but I was able to flatten the table significantly in the most important areas around the center of the table. I removed the router and insert from the table then I turned the router table upside and placed it onto my table saw which has a very flat surface. I went on to loosen all of the screws which mount the router table top to the frame as well as the nuts and bolts that hold the frame together. Next, I pushed down onto the router table top to flush it to my table saw top and proceeded to tighten the screws and nuts and bolts. It took a little experimentation with the order to tighten everything to achieve the best results. In the end, I likely would buy the Kreg Benchtop Router Table again if I ever need to replace it and I don't want to spend over $700 for a full sized model or if I still want a compact router table. When I compared the Kreg Benchtop Router Table to other benchtop router tables in the price range at stores, it was sturdier and more precise than the options. While I did invest significant amounts of time increasing the precision of the table, it was definitely worth the original cost. On the other hand, if a router table which cost more than double what the Kreg Benchtop table was guaranteed to be easier to tune, then I would consider making the investment. ... show more
