  • Best powered speakers I've ever heard
Item Package Quantity: 1
Snagged these on sale and I have to say that for that money I don't think anything else will come close. Even at the original full price I think they're worth the money. I've had these on my wishlist for a long time now and I'm not disappointed. I will say first that the lack of any sort of crossover control is something that could be improved in a future version. I would be tempted to pay a little bit extra for that flexibility. I definitely like the strong bass at low volume. That's a really sweet feature. I've previously owned a Klipsch subwoofer, that used to clear off all the dust in the room anytime there was an explosion in a soundtrack, so I'm used to their quality which really helped with the purchase decision for me. That said, the first thing that I noticed when listening for the first time was the phenomenal bass response. Are you kidding me - it's like there's a subwoofer in the room. That's why I made the comment about an adjustable crossover. The bass isn't overpowering at all. It does take a little trial and error to find the right distance from the wall for the best bass, of course. I'd like to see a future version with equally good bass but front ported if possible. I realize that would require a larger cabinet but it would give the option to wall mount. I have them in my home office in a spare bedroom for an idea of room size. My last bookshelf size speakers were Polks powered by a high current receiver and they didn't have this much punch. I absolutely love the bass. This is an apartment so I'm afraid to really crank them up. I think I'd be in trouble pretty fast if I did. The rest of the sound is great too. I was afraid of getting listening fatigue from the horn tweeters but OMG. I would definitely not call these overbright. They're wonderful to listen to. For example stuff by Sleeping Pandora sounds really nicely mixed when I listen on these. It can be difficult to make it sound good on inexpensive systems. "Sorrow", by Pink Floyd is breathtaking because that bass solo at the beginning really shines with these. My other listening option is a pair of Byerdynamic studio headphones and these are every bit as enjoyable. I get goosebumps. I don't know if I believe in "break in" for speakers but as good as they sound initially it'll only get better. Bluetooth was super easy to connect out of the box. At first the tablet didn't find them from across the room but after bringing it a lot closer, doing the pairing, it was fine after that from anywhere that I would expect to be able to use Bluetooth. I like being able to basically use my tablet as a music system remote for queuing up music and stuff. I know it doesn't sound as good as wired but when I want higher quality I just plug it in to the headphone jack. I'm using the USB for sound in Windows and Linux and that was seamless to set up. The quality is phenomenal. I've been collecting vinyl from independent bands on Bandcamp and hopefully will be able to get a turntable soon, so the preamp was as much a selling point for me as the Bluetooth. I really appreciate all the connection options on these. It's a main reason why they were at the top of the list for powered speakers that I was considering. Highly recommend. 10/10 ... show more

  • Great speakers
Item Package Quantity: 1
Amazing speakers. Looks great. Bluetooth works great. Sound is clear and crisp and in balance with treble and bass. Well worth the money. Comparing them against past speakers I’ve had like Polk, Altec Lansing, Bose, and Energy these are better than all of them. The only negative would be a lack of ability to adjust bass and treble manually but they’re so balanced that being able to do that would probably only be valuable to a very small percentage of consumers. ... show more

  • Incredible speakers for PC! (probably other stuff too)
Item Package Quantity: 1
Background: Originally I purchased a $30 soundbar for my gaming computer. Just something to hold me over until I could splurge on something better. It had high reviews and the only real complaint I had with it is the volume. Since it was powered by the USB port it was limited and my volume settings were 100% or off. I was researching speakers for gaming and these never came up, but a YouTuber video that rated some computer speakers had their top choice as Klipsch R-51M as his top choice, but they were not powered and needed an amp. The price of both those was the same as these, and still wouldn't get the blue-tooth support. After many more hours of research I couldn't find anything close to the quality for the price. The blue-tooth is a big bonus for me since I listen to my audio book while on the treadmill and I was using a battery powered mobile speaker for that. Connecting (Inputs): Hooking these up was simplicity itself. They support phono, optical digital, aux, and the all important USB. The 41's don't support optical digital according to manual, I got the R-51PM so I have to take their word for it. One thing I wasn't expecting was the remote, for the computer I can mute and control the volume from my keyboard so I didn't think it would be a benefit to me. The remote allows the switching between inputs as well, allowing me to switch over to blue-tooth and back to USB for computer. Otherwise I would need to press on the volume dial located on the back of the speaker, behind my monitor and against the wall every time I want to use the blue-tooth or switch back. Quick note, after hooking up these speakers I didn't get any audio even though my computer recognized them and set them as audio output. These speakers don't auto switch between inputs. The color of the LED you can slightly see through the removable mesh indicates which input speakers are currently on. The USB is white and soon as I switch it over beautiful sound filled the air. Volume: Just WOW! At first it was disappointingly low. After a little trial and error I found the volume control on my PC/Keyboard would only have the range up to what ever volume the speakers are set too. I like this, I set the speaker volume to just short of rattling the walls, less than their full volume. Then when I adjust the volume from my computer it will only reach up to the volume the speakers are set too. This should keep me from startling my neighbors awake. I actually find myself using the volume control on the computer/keyboard now, finding the sweet spot for each situation and mood. For immersion in games, volume and quality of sound is essential. Some cheaper speakers would probably have been adequate. There are some highly rated brands a step down and I'm not an audiophile, but having speakers that are more than what I need now means they'll give me that extra quality and sound while meeting or exceeding my future needs. Conclusion: For the price they are not the best solution for everyone, especially if you don't spend some time on the computer playing games and/or listening to music. If you can splurge for these, it will be an investment you can reap the rewards from for decades, unlike computers and even monitors which need regular upgrading to stay relevant, quality speakers will still be quality and usable for as long as you own them. I have no regrets getting them and glad I did splurge. They have really good sales if you can wait and are patient. ... show more
