  • A PRS for cheap!
Got this baby for $112 with a coupon. What a deal! All I had to do was tune it up. Nice low action. PRS 25-inch scale. Very lightweight. Love the neck. Has some girth to it. i am not a fan of thin shredder necks. Pickups sound good. Love my purchase.

  • I ordered one over 6 months ago and it arrived
IYV quality can be sad, bad or ooo wow. This one was better than average in fit and finish. It did have a volume pot that would not turn off and .047 capacitor. Tsk, tsk IYV! I almost expect that level of problems setup and normal items like frets were good. I swapped out both the .10 size pots for good quality full size metrics. Fully functioning pots are preferred! I added a JST connector, so I could change the capacitor value with a plugin. My normal selection is a .022, but I found a .033 seemed to be just a bit better for my ears on this guitar. I did polish the frets and oil the fretboard, which helps as well. The factory strings were fresher and better than what comes on most imports but were replaced as well. It's now a sweet low-cost guitar. If you buy in this price range you will, need to do some of this or that who ever makes it. ... show more

  • Buy it ...
I can't say enough about this thing but TL/DR; ...It's rare for a guitar that plays this well to come around at this price, IMO; 24-frets, Gibson neck-length, set-neck, intonated tailbridge (oooohhh nice!) The neck is a little wider at the nut than most other electrics (43 mm); So, if you were looking for an electric that has that "Gibson-ish / Acoustic" feel - this might be your bet. The frets and the neck were perfect on mine. I personally like how the neck is unbound; This is a no BS guitar. It needed a 1/4 turn tension and lowered the tailpiece a turn and now it's absolutely amazing ... The bad: Not much ... The jack plate is kinda cheezy and the pickups are not great, but I'm OK with those things... I haven't looked at the electronics - I assume they are at least somewhat trashy, but most of these guitars have that issue it seems. It is SOO light ... I bought it to put 11s on it, but coz of the weight IDK if that would hurt it. Mine looked like it might have been a return, but it wasn't too severely abused if it was. The neck was very dry, but we all have fretboard oil. some more things; The pups (on mine) are very microphonic - You can try shielding them or replacing them but at high volumes mine squeal. Also the tuners need to be replaced; Any PRS compatable set should do. ... show more

  • Affordable solid body
Found this guitar on sale for $100. It's my second IYV in my collection and a great addition. Right out of box I lowered action and tuned. It's smooth neck makes running thru scales effortless. The solid body makes for good sustain . The pickups have pretty good punch & clarity. My only nitpick with it is seems just a little small but other than that pretty impressive for such a Budget guitar. I've been playing for over 20 years but no more than garage bands and just a hobby. But it's worth more than it cost. ... show more

  • Not the best option out there
The guitar arrived with a rusty truss rod cover. Strings were all rusty. The volume knob on mine did not work. The base of the neck had cracks as did the back of the body. There was no damage to the box that it arrived in. The neck had a few spots that looked like someone took an angle grinder to from the factory. The A string tuner stripped inside and broke before I could tune it. I did not have high hopes, but what I received was significantly worse than expected. As far as cheap guitars go I have a Squire Debut that is similar in price that is worlds ahead of this for the money. ... show more

  • Not A Bad Price but no PRS
This my 6th IYV guitar. Truthfully I almost didn't buy this one. The reviews were pretty mixed. My arrived in the typical IYV packing which makes me surprised it came in good shape. There are a few defects, mostly a paint chip in outside "waist"and scuffing below that on the "hip". It has a very nice coating overall, no overspray or blushing. The posistion switch needs to be turned, no biggy. This is a very light guitar so I'm quite sure its inner is partical board material like my IYV distressed "greenie" LP I bought a few years ago. I've never taken so long to tune a guitar as this one. Usually the inotation, neck and string heighth are pretty close. Not this unit. Had tweek the tunomatic, both pickups and relieve the neck to defeat a slight twist to right of guitar. After struggling I finished those tasks only to notice somehow the nut had popped out on the low E side. No problem, didnt chip anything so just tapped a few with a small brass hammer and perfect. After all this it was time to play when I noticed the pickup s switch was upside down. Again no problem, plenty of room to turn wuthout disconnecting anything internally. Set my Peavey Bandit 65 to some slightly growley setting. This thing wales. It seems lije it has a pretty smooth and fast neck, no sharp frets nor dead ones. I love it. The only reason I gave 4 was to be petty but just because they overlooked a few things and probably should perform a little more QC. ... show more
