We have purchased 6 of these great 36" Prepac wall cabinets in light gray. All 6 cabinets were delivered quickly, in excellent condition, and with all of the parts included. These cabinets are very easy to assemble, and all of the predrilled holes line up perfectly. These cabinets are square, once assembled, and the adjustable hinges make it so the doors are square, and close with very little gap between them. These cabinets are also light enough in weight that one person can hang them, if the doors are attached after hanging, as it makes the hanging process less awkward. These cabinets have no backs, but it does not really matter once they are filled with items, as the wall behind the cabinet gets mostly hidden anyway. The 2 center shelves are height adjustable using the included pegs. The steel hanging rail is 38" wide, so it will stick out one inch on each side of the 36" cabinet, but it can be cut with a hacksaw if necessary. There is also an extension rail included for hanging 2 cabinets side by side. These cabinets can be butted together when hung, without any gap between them. The steel hanging rail must be secured with the 3 included lag screws, into 3 wood studs. Do not try and hang these cabinets into sheetrock only. They WILL fall! These cabinets are hung on the steel rail with 3 steel hanging hooks that connect to the cabinet wood with steel bolts. The finish of these cabinets is smooth, colored laminate attached to particle board. Overall, these cabinets look very nice and function very well. The only thing we added to these cabinets is round, felt adhesive bumpers, so that the doors do not bang when being closed. Overall, these are very nice wall cabinets for the money, and I highly recommend them to anyone that is looking for some easy to assemble and hang storage space. I bought 2 of these to replace wire shelving in my laundry room and they look great. They were really simple to put together. Hanging them is all about making sure to get the mounting rail level and hitting some studs with the screws. Note: You may need a haxsaw or a sawsall to cut the rail. My sawsall cut it easily. I was able to complete this project without help but you might want to have someone assist you in hanging the cabinets on the rail before you insert the shelf and install the doors, as they are heavier than they look. Notice in the picture with the cabinet doors open that I added soft-closing dampers at the top of each door above the hinge so they don't slam shut which is an easy one screw install. I installed these in a laundry room. I've also recently installed some Ikea Sektion cabinets, some Ulti-Mate garage cabinets, and some Elfa closet cabinets (all of which are far more expensive than Prepac), so a quick comparison. Suspension system: the quality of the suspension system directly impacts the ease of installation. Prepac is the clear winner here, their suspension rails provide the most flexibility to ensure you can hit every stud and they provide a linking brace to connect multiple sections of rail. However, the ends of the rail will be visible once the cabinet is mounted. Ikea's rail also has many mounting holes but the actual attachment mechanism for the cabinets is a little awkward. Elfa rails are terrible, the hole spacing makes no sense, I had to drill holes to make it work. Ulti-Mate uses a particleboard french cleat, which is fine. Door quality: Prepac loses on this one, the finish is not great, lots of orange peel, and my sense is that it will not resist moisture (and the particle board will swell). Fine for utility room off the floor but that's it. Ulti-Mate is far, far superior, with a PVC coating that resists moisture and a gel coating finish that looks like it could be on a fishing boat. Ikea quality was amazing, but only suitable for finished interior areas. Elfa was so-so. Hardware: Prepac is just ok here, basic Euro hinges that lack soft close. All the others had soft close. Prepac boxes are held together with just screws, while the others use cams and dowels. Shelves: Prepac shelves just sit on pegs, there no indentations on the shelves to keep them from sliding in/out. Probably not an issue but worth noting. Ulti-Mates shelves are screwed to the pegs, which is solid but makes adjusting shelves a no-go. ... show more

    • Easy to assemble and hang
I rarely write product reviews, but I am so happy with this cabinet that I want to share. This is obviously a cabinet for a garage or laundry room, not a finished product for a kitchen, but for what it is, it is great. The assembly was straightforward with clear instructions. But the best part is the hanging. Unlike most cabinets that are a challenge to hang, the brackets easily attach to studs and then you just slip the box over the lip on the bracket. I purchased the white 36" cabinet for my laundry room. This cabinet went together so easily and hanging it was so simple! I am a 54 year old woman and I put this together and attached the bar for hanging by myself. I only needed assistance to hang the cabinet since it was going above my washer and dryer. It's fairly sturdy and has lots of room for detergents, softeners and other items kept in the laundry room. I think I'll buy one for the garage as well! Very pleased!! ... show more

I like this but there are some unacceptable issues Pro: Construction is fast and easy compared to others like it. I love cabinets that have a rail you hang them on for installation instead of having to hold them up, level them and drill them into the block. This you just drill in the rail and hang this Con: see the pics. Unacceptable damage occurred during construction and I know it didn’t occur in transit to my house because it was very well protected. This was a QC issue I wanted it up so badly that I let it go. ... show more
