  • The only FRUSTRATION FREE trimmer I've ever used!
Had this long enough to have used it plenty now. Wanted to try it out more than once or twice to really review it. I had trouble at first getting the head to twist to the side or back. Also had trouble getting the line spool out. But after using it more, these things got easier & are no problem now. They were just very new & still at first & I have hand/arm strength problems anyway. So if you get this, don't be so fast to send it back!! I almost did that, but now I love it, have no problem with the twisting parts moving like I want, & the adjustable length is a godsend. I read a lot of reviews for many trimmers & it seems to be a repeating problem that auto line feeds don't let the string out or let it all out. I have to say I've had NO PROBLEM at all with the line feed at all. In fact this is the only trimmer I've ever used that I can say that about!! It was very heavy for me at first, until I pushed the handle as short as it would go, & that balanced the weight for me so it was easy to use. I'm an older woman w/ arm weakness, & If I can get it to where I can use it easily, any woman should be able to do the same without much of an issue with the trimmer weight. This trimmer works well, stays plugged in tightly, has nice features that make cutting in different situations easy (I use it turned sideways along fences for climbing vines quite often), & feeds the line at just the right rate to not use up a whole spool in a single use. I do recommend buying a spare line spool to keep ready for a fast switch tho. I rewind them myself using .065 round line. The dual line feed spool isn't hard to rewind at all. This 15" GreenWorks Corded Trimmer is one of the best buys I made this year, & for sure the best trimmer I've ever used--frustration free. ... show more

  • Powerful, and GREAT as an edger too!
This trimmer is superb: Powerful, and it's one of the few trimmers that actually works as an edger. I'm not sure why people complain about the line replacement and line-advance. I replaced the line and, while, it's a little more time consuming than the typical trimmer -- but it works fine if you're patient. The line-advance feature works great. My only issues are these: The pivoting trim head would "lock" in the edging position but not in the trimming position, so I have requested a replacement. And the head is a bit heavier than I'm used to, but I'll take the extra power over what I have been used to. For the price and the fact that it's electric -- meaning no more messing with temperamental gas engines, I would DEFINITELY buy this again. ... show more

  • Great trimmer for the money
I had to take several factors into consideration. Weight and power for my size and frame and the terrain to be trimmed. Battery powered trimmers aren't powerful enough to suit me and the batteries drained to quickly. I didn't want to mess with a gas powered trimmer and hate the smell of them. I wanted a lighter weight trimmer for a longer job on a hilly area that isn't safe for a mower. This one worked perfectly with 100 ft cord for the terrain I needed to trim. Steady power, great results. I have only used it once so far and haven't used the edger yet. I am happy with it and you can't beat the cost. The con is the cord but its also a pro for the steady power you get. ... show more

  • like most of us
Buying this for the amps and edger, compelling...I thought that the more powerful motor, edging capabilities, and wider swath, set this apart from all the other conventional electric trimmers that I was researching. However, all the things that I encountered had proven to me that this was a very poorly designed and engineered trimmer. First of all, I want to make it abundantly clear that I very rarely write reviews, but I really wanted to let people know what I had found. I did my homework, like most of us, and saw a few things that could be a problem, but refused to heed these reviews. I really, really wanted this specific trimmer! Unfortunately, I spent as much or more time trying to manually feed line out or dismantling the spool when the line broke off into the spool it self, than trimming. The "line advance feature" took too long or became a moot point when the line broke off inside the spool. When I read the reviews, that people had to Jerry-rig the line dispenser to make it work, I over looked it. When people said that the balance was an issue, I didn't pay attention, either. (Even when positioning the handle all the way down the shaft, it was still bottom heavy.) Or, that the line would break off inside the spool, requiring dismantling. The line is very delicate, and highly prone to breakage. (It was suggested to use heavier line in some of the comments.) There were many times that the spool wouldn't dispense the line, because it was wrapped too tightly around the spool by the factory. Well, if the factory is unable to wrap the spool, so it will properly dispense, I can only hope that I can do a better job. The reason that I believe that it is wound so tightly is because it can't hold much line in the first place. People said that the edger was hard to use, because they didn't have line of sight and couldn't see around the housing, that it was in the way or that they had flying debris coming at them, when they tried to poke their heads around it. These were just a few things that I encountered. I found that the plant guard was in the way, if you were to trim tight edges, like around fences or walls. (Instead of being able to retract it, which should have been an option, I simply took it off!) Another problem was that the air vents that cool the motor kept clogging, and because I had the trimmer upside down so much that I could smell the motor beginning to heat up. (Every single one was clogged.) So, I had to clear all the vents three times in about a 45 minute period. The biggest problem was the trimmer line itself, and it could be attributed to old brittle line. If this is indeed the case, I could live with it. If I use thicker line, this may rectify the problem, providing that it can fit in the slots of the inner spool? I'm stuck with it now, but for the time being, it seems to be a costly mistake. I don't know why this had gotten so many positive reviews, but I do know that there are trolls that get paid to make these type of reviews. I was once solicited myself with a proposition that I could get a product for free, if I were to write a positive review. It does happen! Good luck, and I hope this helped someone! ... show more
