  • High-quality pool filler eliminates annoying routine
The annoying routine mentioned in the headline is the frequent monitoring of the pool water level and having to fill it manually with a garden hose. As those of you who don't have a built-in automatic filler know, two undesirable conditions exist in addition to the obvious annoyance factor. First, if you neglect to fill the pool, the water level will eventually drop below the skimmer and the pump will draw air, losing prime. That's a real problem here in Phoenix where summer evaporation robs us of about an inch of surface level each week. Second, if you forget you have the hose running in the pool it will overflow and you'll end up with a flood and a higher water bill. This simple, but well-made device solves all that. It operates just like a toilet tank fill valve and it has an adjustable bracket so it will work on just about any in-ground pool or spa. We've only had ours a couple months but it has been working flawlessly so far. I installed a high-quality, double-ball valve wye shut-off on the supply hose bib and used a braided stainless steel washing machine connector with a brass adapter to attach it to the filler's supplied connector. The stainless steel connector is essential here in the desert because a typical vinyl or even rubber garden hose that is under constant pressure is prone to sunburn and eventual bursting. Since the filler gradually meters water into the pool as needed, keeping the supply wide open is not necessary. Ours is kept at less than fifty percent open which will extend the life of the hoses and will serve to mitigate the loss of water and potential damage in the unlikely event of a supply hose failure. I 100% recommend you purchase this product if you are tired of dragging a hose to your pool and you want to stop having to impose upon neighbors or family members to do so while you are away. ... show more

  • Forgetta-bout-it! (adding water to your pool)
I installed and have been continuely using this device for almost four weeks. It works perfectly! For my part, I live in the south and experience considerable evaporation water loss throughout the year - but the summer time water loss can be dramatic. My saltwater pool is 33,000 gallons and it can take a few hours to raise the water level just two inches. When I am filling the pool I have to be in the area and manually verify the level before I turn the water back off. I have a local pool company perform weekly maintenance but they do not manage the water level for me. Additionally, I can be away from my house for weeks at a time so I have been researching automated options to maintain my pool water level. I bought this device with the hope it would work as advertised. I was looking for a solution that would maintain the water level. Let me restate -- this device works perfectly! Sweet geez us! As stated in the product description, "Automatically keeps your swimming pool water at your determined height..." This is truth advertising (can't make that statement for some products). I did not require any extension bracket or water pressure adapter. I did replace my aluminum hose end with a brass connector as recommended in the product instructions. After I had set up the device (instructions are clear, easy, and accurate) I waited until the next morning to actually apply water so I could watch it throughout the day. The device fills up the pool much slower than my normal water hose approach. I believe this is because there is a large rubber washer with a small round hole that acts like a water governor (it fits where the stainless steel hose connector attaches to the black plastic assembly). My pool was a few inches low in water so it took a long time to bring it back to the where I had set the 'correct level' for my pool. This is not a problem, it was just something I did not expect. More importantly, I have had it on ever since I installed it. At first I was always looking at the pool level to ensure it was not overfilling the pool and just watering the earth (Ha!). But, after almost four weeks of continuous use I can tell you that I have complete confidence in the device -- it works exactly as I had hoped. Having rethought the large washer with the small hole regulating water flow -- I like the design. And, I can't say this enough -- it works! As for noise, I sometimes hear the water release inside the device as it is keeping my pool full. It is a really faint sound level type noise -- for me, it does not bother me at all. I would recommend this device to anyone who has a similar problem that I was trying to solve. To be forthright, I did drop a star-level on 'value for the money' just because I think it is overpriced. I think it is overpriced by 25%. ... show more

  • Service after the Sale
I also purchased a water pressure reduction valve to reduce psi to 25. It was the plastic version of a name brand mfg. Upon receiving the pool leveler, I connected the pressure reduction valve to the supply hose and then to the stainless steel connector that came with the leveler. When the pool water reached the desired level, the leveler continues to seep water, not shutting off the supply hose. I contacted the seller and we tried several fixes, which did not solve the problem. He then sent me a brass pressure reduction valve from the same name brand mfg that produced the plastic one I had purchased. This corrected the seepage issue and the unit is operating as designed. 5 stars on the product and 10 stars for the seller for service after the sale! ... show more

  • Excellent product for what the market has to offer
I initially bought a product from Amazon for its aesthetic appeal. It was a foreign product and much of my dismay, it was poorly manufactured, and the plastic was of poor gauge and did not snap well together. It was flimsy and poorly build. Furthermore, it required adding rocks to make it stable. I was reluctant initially to get this one as it did not have any cosmetic appeal. However if you get over it's morphology, it is a well built product, has a good center of gravity, and is consistent in filling in pool. I added photos of the actual " Stream lab" water monitor that determines the water usage of my pipes along with the device operation and pool filling. Pros: good quality, stable center of gravity.Functions reliably Cons: expansion bar has a dead space of 1 inch, in case you need to set the water level between the original setting and the extension bar. Not aesthetically appealing ... show more

  • Works fine
Works well and it was easy to set up. The instructions probably confused me more than they helped. When you take this out of the box it's obvious how to use it. There is a washer that is held to the main unit with a twist tie - that goes into the inlet before you screw in the included stainless hose. My pool level is deeper than 9 inches from the top of the deck so I did have to get an extension. I've reviewed that separately. ... show more
