Description

Far Cry 2 by Ubisoft is the anticipated sequel to the award-winning original that brings players into the beautiful and hostile world of Africa. Far Cry 2 for Xbox 360 features open-ended gameplay that allows you to play the game whichever way you choose, with the choices you make affecting where the game leads you. Outstanding Graphics Ubisoft developed the Dunia Engine specifically for Far Cry 2. Among other things, the Dunia Engine delivers realistic, interactive environments, special effects, real-time night-and-day cycles, and smart enemy AI. Expansive, Realistic Environment Far Cry 2 is set in a fictional region of Africa where you are caught between two rival factions at war. The Ubisoft team spent a lot of time filming and photographing in Africa to get all the details of the landscape and native wildlife. The result is a huge gameplay area that is 50 square kilometers, taking players into and out of the jungle and savannah. Wild animals such as zebras, buffalo, gazelle are encountered during the game, with both players and enemies allowed to interact with them. Far Cry 2 features an incredible level of detail and realism, with a minimal in-game interface to detract from immersion. For example, players will need to navigate the world using an in- game map and navigation system, weapons will disintegrate over time, and fires will spread and propagate. Each of the actions a player takes is reflected in the environment and changes the content of the game. To fulfill your mission, you need to play the enemies against each other, using both strategy and skill. Huge Range of Weapons and Vehicles Far Cry 2 offers gamers a wide range of weapons, from a machete for hand-to-hand combat, to a sniper rifle that can stealthily pluck off enemies from afar. As weapons disintegrate over time, they might jam or even explode in your hand. There are also a large range of vehicles such as gliders, trucks, cars, and boats that will let you fly, drive, slide, and hover over the open landscapes. Multiplayer Options for up to 16 Players Far Cry 2 supports up to 16 players and has four gameplay modes: Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Diamond, and Uprising. Players can choose from six different classes in multiplayer, each with its own set of pros and cons. Just as in the single-player mode, multiplayer games will feature dynamic elements, making each session unique. You can explore the world of Far Cry 2 from inside a car or flying on a glider.

  • Absolutely love it!!!

Great game, great story line, multiplayer, MAP MAKER (with vehicles and infinite possibilities, mind you. Ive seen people desi), secrets, fun weapons, and easy controls. I would recommend this to anyone. Also, if you like to play player made maps, you can download or try the maps people have setup in online rooms already. I have made 25 of them myself, but their are literally thousands. Search Sherbud73 in the "Map Author" search for the maps I've made and enjoy the game. Like I said, I would recommend this game to anyone. ... show more

  • A decent game, but not great.

Far Cry 2 has got all the things you'd really want in a shooter. Guns, Explosions, if you set fire to something the fire spreads like a real fire would. The problem is you don't really end up caring about any of the characters. Yourself included. The story is OK but not really that memorable. All in all, if you're looking to have some fun shooting people, then this is a good game. if you want a game you can really emerce yourself in then try Far Cry 3. ... show more

  • The Classic Sand-Box Game. Still tons of fun today.

Yes, the enemies never permanently go away. Getting anywhere in this game is quite a challenge. But if you accept that this game is simply about getting places and doing things without dying, and progressing to bigger and badder weapons all the time, this game will hook you into its world. When I was done, I felt like I'd really become a complete badass. Things will happen to you in this game which you'll want to tell your friends about. And almost none of it is pre-scripted. The game is a triumph of system-based game design. Very immersive. I always find myself wanting to go back to it. Arguably, Far Cry 2 is a classic. ... show more

  • Far Cry 2 punches you in the face until you figure out how to duck, but boy is it satisfying when you do. :)
Platform For Display: Xbox 360
This is a very divisive game. I loved it. I know someone who hates it. And we both agree that the litmus test is how you feel about the respawning guard posts. The open world map is filled with guard posts. Even after you take one out, once you move away a bit, it'll respawn again. This makes traveling across the map difficult. Many people find it too tedious, wishing they could just fast travel to the next mission and get on with it, and so they hate the game. As for me, Far Cry 2 is all about planning ahead, and then improvising when my plan fails, and the guard posts are part of that. Since I have limited ammo and health, do I want to waste my precious silent dart gun ammo on this guard post and have less ammo when I get to the mission? Or do I take a look at my map and find a way around? Or maybe I try to use one type of weapon on this guard post, and a different one when I get to my mission? And the missions themselves usually provide you with a variety of entry points, where you can plan things out. Maybe you see a vehicle patrolling a road, so you leave a jeep in the middle of the road as a road block, and then wait to ambush them. Maybe then you accidentally start a brush fire and have to run from cover. A lot of games claim that you have multiple ways to approach a situation, but Far Cry 2 really forces you to think about it, and it never lets you off easy. Even the most powerful weapon in the game, a guided rocket launcher, has a downside: backsplash that can start a fire behind you if you're not careful. I haven't actually played Dark Souls, but I imagine this is sort of like the FPS version that: A game that punches you in the face until you learn to duck. It doesn't hold your hand, but that makes it all the more worthwhile when you figure out your own strategy. ... show more
