Went from a harbor freight chain saw to this chain saw and I was not disappointed. This is technically a professional grade chainsaw. I was bought a husky 455 rancher and this thing will cut so much better then the husky. My husky also was leaking gas and was a pain to start. I would recommend someone who cuts a lot of wants a reliable chain saw. Only thing I would recommend is getting a smaller chain and bar for it as a 20 inch bar seems to make it a little under powered but still works. Heavier than husky and stihl. ... show more

Not only was it D.O.A. but Echo added insult to injury by refusing to honor their warranty. Their excuse was that I bought it from an unauthorized reseller - without ever clarifying whether that reseller was Amazon or someone else. Their rationale is that if it's sold by an "unauthorized reseller" it could have been tampered with. I don't know how someone could tamper with it inside the original, undamaged, sealed box but that's what N------ at Echo said. Amazon came through - YAY AMAZON!! - but Echo was a complete failure. Over the last week everything has been tried, all the appropriate videos on YouTube have been viewed, nothing got even one "pop." Removing the spark plug, which appeared to be brand new, and swabbing the top of the piston produced no carbon. If the saw was ever successfully tested at the factory there would be a small amount of carbon in the cylinder. There was none. Zero. Echo has lost my business, permanently. Amazon, however, is a shining example of how to make it right. Thank you, Amazon. Now I just need to find its replacement - I still need a saw... ... show more

Saw was good straight out of the box. I needed another firewood saw as my 272xp is having oiling issues and is 20 years old now. I couldn't justify getting another pro saw for the amount of work I do now. I read a lot of reviews and watched a lot of videos and decided to give the echo a try. I cut a full f250 truckload stacked front to back with gas left in the tank. The 272 would have ran out. I expect the echo to get better as I run a few tanks through it. The starting ritual is the same as it was for husky so it was no problem to get running. ... show more
