  • Great product
Works great in our heavy job. We use it everyday.

  • Iffy ergonomics, stout housing, quality power cable, and noisy
Performance of this polisher is good, the cut is fairly aggressive due to the long random-orbit stroke and high max speed. It includes a rubber backing pad as well as a foam pad for bonnets. The housing of the unit is beefy and the polisher feels like it could take a lot of abuse, including the thick power cable with great strain-relief (usually the first thing to go on corded power tools). However, some of the edges are a little sharp, especially around the speed control, which is recessed pretty far to boot. The deep recessing and click action of the speed control keep it from changing speed inadvertently, but I adjust the speed very often when I'm polishing and the ridges and recessing make it a bit uncomfortable to use. During use, the backlash in the gears produces a rattling sound that's louder than the random-orbit polishers that I've used in the past. It's loud enough that I feel the need for hearing protection, and I am a little concerned about longevity. This unit looks to be the same as the Porter-Cable 7424XP, which is fairly likely since StanleyBlack&Decker group owns both Craftsman and Porter-Cable. Sidenote: if you didn't know, most tool brands are owned by a parent company that owns many familiar brands. SBD also makes DeWalt. Ridgid and Milwaukee are both owned by TTI. Search "tool brand parent companies" and it will help inform your tool-buying decisions. The exterior of this polisher is identical to the P-C 7424XP apart from the colors, with the same speed control, the same handle, the same vents and screw locations, and the same type of backing plate. If this polisher is the same, it bodes well for long-term reliability, since Porter-Cable's reputation is a bit heavier-duty and the 7424XP has been around for longer than the Craftsman version. Overall, this is a solid value for a solid mid-range polisher. ... show more

  • Broke after 2 hours of use
the vibration in this machine is tremendous. plus it's very heavy, hard to work with. something internally broke that holds the shaft that the pad screws into. no way to get to it to see if it's something simple. this was a new machine in box.

  • Impressed
The media could not be loaded. Good: -Powerful. -Comes with one sanding paper sheet. -Handle can be attached for right or left hand use. -Speed control dial. -Cord length seems to be about 8-9 feet long. Bad: -The weight and vibration limits how long I can use it without hand fatigue. -Does not include a storage case. I ordered the Craftsman CMEE145 6" Variable-Speed Random Orbit Polisher. I like that we can use it for polishing and sanding projects. Instructions indicate that polishing pads and abrasive discs with a diameter of 6 inches may be used with the unit. We are using for auto detailing and concrete countertop finishing. Overall, the polisher seems durable, works well and is a great tool to have in the garage. ... show more

  • A poerhouse
This polisher is one of those tools that you find more uses for, the more you use it. I have a small sander that I use mostly on furniture refinishing, but it is nothing like this powerhouse. Because it is a plug in tool,it has more power than a cordless tool ; 4.5 amps. It is great that it has a 2-position handle, left or right, because, although it is considered lightweight, that is still pretty heavy after awhile., so I can change hands. The variable speed is a good feature, and the compact size is perfect for someone like me who uses tools occasionally, and doesn't have a lot of storage space. Anyway, I have used it to polish my car, to sand some paint off an old dresser, and I am looking at my terrazzo floors next. If this polisher can help bring back my old floors, I will put it in a place of honor on my bookshelf, next to my bowling trophy. ... show more

  • Best I've Used
This polisher may be one of the best on the market. I don't buy in to the hype about name brand products most of the time, but this polisher is a good one. I like how you can use the handle on the left or right side of the polisher. How that helps me (being right-handed) is that I can maneuver into tight areas better by switching the handle to the right or left side as needed. The polisher has more than enough power to do some heavy-duty polishing, yet can accommodate lighter polishing needs. I've seen a couple reviews that have said that the polisher is quite loud and vibrates. I didn't think the noise was an issue. It may be a bit louder than others on the market, but something this powerful is going to have some noise. The vibration is there, but not to the point where it bothers my wrist or arms. The polisher does vibrate at more times than at others, depending on what is being polished. ... show more

  • this is no better than any other chinese-made buffer
i think this and the same-priced porter-cable are the same machine in different wrappers. all the numbers and designs are the same, as are the performances. was very disappointed in this pseudo-craftsman product. i think if i buy another it will be the makita model for around $400 - if i can convince myself to spend that much money on a buffer. ... show more

  • Right sized for car polishing discs, not for countertops
It works. Using it as a sander, I found it inferior to the other three styles of portable electric sanders I have around the house. I was hoping to use it for polishing a countertop, but then I found there are two standards out there for polishers. For some reason these big ones are just for things like cars, and there is a smaller one for countertops, so make sure you find whatever attachments you need for your project before you decide which polisher to buy. Quality seems about what you'd expect from a big box store product. It's too big to hold comfortably. ... show more
