  • One of the best Manga around!
Format: Paperback
What can I say about this collection? The box is sturdy and beautiful to look at, the actual series is one of the best Manga available with likable and engrossing characters, great action, overall coherent world-building and I think also a satisfactory ending (some think that there were still some loose ends at the end, but personally I think that they either had a forgone conclusion, like the issue of remaining Yomas, or didn't really need further exposition, like the other continent business where I think the Claymores have little reason to interfere at all unless forced to). The collection also comes with an art book, which is always nice (I can't believe some of that art was actually cover-material, and I mean in a good way). Furthermore this collection is also a convenient way for a newcomer to catch up with the series: each volume costs around 10 dollars and there are 27 of them, meaning that hunting down each individual book might cost up to 270 dollars, while the collection currently costs much less than that while also offering a nice box and an art book. And it's complete! From beginning to end, the whole series. I'd suggest this series to any manga appreciator, especially people who liked Berserk (as both Claymore and Berserk share a dark fantasy setting with a love for depressive and tragic backstories), people who like more mature themed and somewhat violent manga (although violence is not really central, obviously there's a lot of violence but it's nothing I would call too graphic or gore-y) and people who after having watched the Claymore anime want to see how the story truly progressed after Pieta and truly ended (because the anime ending is really just an alternate ending made up on the spot to give that series some kind of conclusion, the manga was nowhere near finished back then so it was either that or no conclusion at all). And obviously also people who like badass women carrying giant swords! ... show more

  • Strong Female Warriors Defeat Monsters WITHOUT Unnecessary Fanservice
Format: Paperback
The greatest manga series I’ve ever read. I couldn’t believe it when I saw they had the whole collection in one beautiful box. I loved it so much I bought one for myself and one for a friend so they could enjoy it as much as I did!! I don’t want to spoil anything in this review, however I’ll just give a broad synopsis of the story. The story focuses on humans and fierce creatures/monsters called yoma that prey on humans. Unfortunately for humanity, they have no way of fighting these creatures, which brings us to the Silver Eyed Witches, the Claymore. These fierce female warriors are not exactly human, and not exactly monster either. Somewhere in between, these beguiled warriors are humanity’s only hope of survival. Not everything is what it seems, and not everyone is as they appear to be. My favorite part of the story is that the female warriors were never overly sexualized. They didn’t wear skimpy bikinis or parade around nearly naked. They are all strong, independent, and very capable fighters who happen to also be women. If you want a story with strong female leads, climatic battles, and a captivating story with monsters, look no farther. Claymore has it all and some. ... show more

  • Awesome stuff
Format: Paperback
What a great purchase!! As a fan of Berserk I really wanted to get into Claymore and finally got the chance to do so. This box set is definitely on the heavier side with 27 amazing volumes and a little illustration book as a bonus. The box came a bit damaged on the back, as you can see in photo 2, but it's really no big deal. Definitely 5 star worthy. Can't wait to dive into this story ... show more

  • A Rare Gem
Format: Paperback
It’s beautiful, I never knew such a thing existed. Claymore has been one of my absolute favorite anime series for years, and I never even thought to finish the rest of the story through the manga series. It opens up a whole lot more of the story and fills in a lot of the blanks from the anime. The anime is amazing and I wish that there were more seasons but reading it through the manga lens feels fairly intimate in a way I can’t explain. I was never quite satisfied with the ending in the anime and to see there is a different ending to that portion of the story, is gratifying. I’m not too big on reading mangas as I am in watching anime, which is why this is my first ever official and complete manga box set. I’m so happy that it’s this series and I feel very appreciative to the author, and all of those involved in the creation process of this rare gem. Absolutely stunning✨ Also, it comes exactly as described and looks even better in person. When you stand it up, the side of the box is Velcro for you to open and closed it at your leasure like a little cabinet. So don’t feel like you’re killing the box, I almost about cried myself then I realized it was velcro. ... show more

  • Claymore
Format: Paperback
I began watching the anime and it was a hell of a story. Now having wondered into this collection of books that I did not know existed I was pleasantly surprised to discover them. I am looking forward to reading the whole series.
