  • Prints well. WiFi only, but it works.
I like this printer. The print quality is good, speed is good, toner use and price are not bad, printer price is good. I was a little dubious about a WiFi printer without a USB cable option, but the WiFi works fine, and it does eliminate one long cable and the hassle of routing it between the computer and printer. Setup was easy and smooth. It does a decent job of printing envelopes, although they do tend to crinkle a bit -- not ideal, but good enough that I do it regularly. My previous Brother lasted for many years (and had the same weakness with envelopes), but buying this one new was cheaper and faster than getting a new drum assembly for the old one... plus all the other parts are new and clean. No regrets. ... show more

  • Simple Easy and Thrilled not to have to buy ink
I have been looking for a laser printer just because I was spending so much on the awful printer I had in ink - and it would print only a few pages or the ink would dry up. This is a black and white printer and it's perfect for basic printing that you might do every so often, even if you need to print several pages. The wireless setup was a breeze and it prints from my Samsung Chromebook and Apple iPhone without any issues. The price is great because I probably spent close to $100 in ink from my other printer just last year (and I barely got any pages from that). ... show more

  • A workhorse printer but no flash
I purchased this last year mainly to save money on toner. I prefer color printing, duplexing, and other features, but I already had that in an HP printer. The cost of toner was just too much, and it wasn’t worth throwing away the HP to get a new one. I must say this black laser printer is a workhorse. My two main objections are: one, the very, very small LCD, and two, no status into to your computer or phone.. What I mean is you don’t know you’re out of toner until you’re out of toner. There are no messages that are sent to your phone or computer to notify you of the toner level. In my case, it’s too difficult to see the toner level on the screen because of where it is placed in the room. This is an older printer but the cost is more than $250!! My next color printer will use toner tanks!! ... show more

  • Small, compact, wireless, and easy to set up. And works fine with Windows 10 and Ubuntu Linux
Many years ago, I bought a Brother color laser printer and got a tremendous amount of use out of it. It has now reached the age where it wants the belts and drums and all the other expensive bits replaced (and I can't complain, because I used a hack I found online to make it think I'd already replaced all of them a couple of years before, and it continued to work just fine for many more prints after that). I no longer have as much of a need for color printing these days (we won't talk about how much the Epson "EcoTank" printer I bought *sucked*... ahem...) so I decided to try another Brother product. So far, it works great, and was very easy to get on our network. Both Windows 10 and Ubuntu Linux 20.x appeared to have built-in support for it, so that was easy too. The only issue I've noticed is that sometimes it seems like you have to "wake it up" to get it to process the print jobs it's received, but that could just be us doing something weird. Now, if I could just get the cat to stop jumping on the desk and laying down on top of the nice warm freshly-printed pages... <.< ... show more

  • BUYER BEWARE DEALING WITH BAD SELLER
*************BUYER BEWARE*************** Buyer beware !!!!! I paid $214 for this little printer only to NOT MAKE COPIES. I followed the instructions on the Brother website, suggestions on Google and Reddit trying everything to make copies but it never would make a copy. It wouldn't even link up with my computer when I unpacked and connected it. Finally, after spending an hour, I found a message on the Brother website telling me I needed to download an update for the printer to work. I downloaded the update and finally was able to print a few papers. Then when I tried to make a copy it wouldn't, no matter what or how many times I tried. I requested a return, within the return window advertised on Amazon. 1st response from seller was to return it and his tech would check it out. 2nd response AFTER receiving the printer back, seller tells me his tech checked it and found it was working correctly. 3rd response, was to explain why he was keeping $54 of my money for the shipping fee. I told the seller, it was NOT working for me. I have no proof his tech got the printer to make copies. Seller told me he was not refunding the shipping fee ($54.00) since it had already been paid to the shipper. Seller asked me to change the reason for return to "No longer needed". I chose the response "does not work as advertised. 4th response from seller was a breakdown of my refund showing deducting $54 for a restocking fee. Earlier response from seller said the $54 was the shipping fee. My opinion is, I think the $198 for this really light, weight printer that will not make a copy, is ridiculously high. ... show more

  • So far, so very good!!
I went thorough many inkjet printers and felt the ink scam eating away at my wallet, my patience, and my faith in humanity. This printer, although only B&W printing, is a revelation!! It is very quick and efficient and doesn't bug me with silly notifications or ink failures. It was also a simple setuo, and I can now even easily print from my phone!! I am still yet to see how long the cartridge lasts, and how they process goes, but so far, it has been wonderful! ... show more

  • The options I need and price is reasonable...
My old printer just kept jamming the paper. Time to look for a new one and I found this. Having WiFi and double-sided printing option with reasonable price that led me to order it. Unfortunately, I found a cheaper price 2 days later on the other website but Amazon won't do price matching. Install is easy and quick. Did some test pages and it's ready to go. I own few other Brother devices and I trust the name. ... show more
