Description

The BLACK+DECKER Alligator 20V MAX cordless lopper chainsaw tree pruner delivers fast, powerful, and effortless cuts that manual loppers can’t make. This battery-operated chainsaw is a smart choice for pruning branches up to 4 in. thick, cutting tree limbs into manageable pieces, and cutting fallen branches after storms. Its innovative clamping jaws grab and cut in one simple, scissor-like motion, and the heavy-duty bar and chain powers through thick branches and small logs with ease. Long-lasting battery performance The 20V MAX lithium ion battery retains its charge 5x longer than similar 18V NiCad batteries—and you won’t be limited by an extension cord. The lopper chainsaw weighs just 6.8 pounds with the battery installed, making it more maneuverable electric saw for tree branches . An included Energy Star- qualified charger will charge a fully depleted battery in about 8 hours. Plus, the battery is even compatible with other BLACK+DECKER 20V MAX cordless lawn tools. Enhanced safety offering the ultimate in controlled cutting, the Alligator lopper’s rugged metal guards cover the jaws to protect you from the cutting chain and immediately snap back over the blades once the cut is complete. And the jaws won’t skip around like chainsaws do when starting a cut. Unlike traditional chainsaws, the Alligator lopper cuts side-to-side instead of top-to-bottom. This helps prevent burying the cutting chain in the dirt as it cuts through, which can quickly dull a regular chainsaw. What’s in the box: LLP120 20V MAX lithium ion cordless Alligator lopper, LBXR20 battery, LCS20 battery charger, wrench, bar and chain, oil bottle, and operating instructions.

  • Saves time & effort
Style: 20V Lopper Kit
Fantastic little tool. Works great for getting into tight places for trimming shrubs & small decorative trees. This is my second one. Great value, beats hand pruning.

  • Got trees? Get these! (Also, get an oilcan.)
Style: 20V Lopper Kit
Truth be told, I'd never heard of gator loppers until I stumbled across these while looking for a replacement 40v battery charger & spare battery for my B&D chainsaw. [Skip this next graf if you're in a hurry.... Backstory: I first tried a B&D cordless drill 15 years ago; then bought a B&D cordless string trimmer on a whim maybe 8 or 9? years ago. (That thing is so awesome ... still going and still chomping thru some pretty heavy going like poke, ragweed, etc. along my fencelines ... I love that wee beastie!). After that came the B&D circular saw, the 12" chainsaw, and a happy hoard of batteries. So while I could try other purported "heavier-duty" makes like DeWalt or Stihl, I'm not convinced I need to, especially for the B&D prices ... And of course, there's my stable of B&D batteries!] Okay, back to the loppers. In short, they are the **business!!!** I was worried at first because I'm a legit female senior citizen and they seemed heavy on first grasp, but once I got to using them to cut up limbs after a storm, I never gave it a second thought. I can't get over the capacity ... The 4" cut claim is true, though pretty slow going, with a tendency to bite/bind on big green stuff ... Not sure I'd push my luck there too much, and standard chainsaw common sense applies. But the jaws and double handle cutoffs feel miles safer than the chainsaw, and for working overhead they are vastly superior. Now I carry them in the tractor bucket while mowing and cheerfully lop off those old headwhacker/ROPS-grabber limbs with abandon, and I'm starting in on some annoying fenceline growth. Honestly, I don't know how I got along without them! As other reviews have mentioned, they go through the bar & chain oil, and the refill bottle is merely decorative, so get an oil can or syringe to refill the reservoir. Also, the "scrench" is flimsy, so get out your socket set for chain adjustments ... But in my experience so far for lopping, pruning, and cutting up to 3 1/2" limbs in relative (to a chainsaw) safety, these gator loppers are the best things since sliced bread. Love them!!! ... show more

  • Makes short work out of smaller cutting and pruning jobs, battery life is limited for larger jobs
Style: 20V Lopper Kit
I've owned the corded version of this tool for a decade. So it was an easy decision to pick up this cordless version for my property which has a lot of land too far from an outlet to safely run an extension cord. As a bonus, closer to my house and barn, no more dragging a contractor's cord around! Just like it's older brother, it cuts fast and is easy to use. Brush, limbs, etc. if it fits in the jaws, it cuts. Just be aware that this is an electric chain saw at heart, and use common sense and safety precautions. The only real drawback is the battery life and charging time. While it's great for small jobs, those of us who need a longer run time for large jobs are going to need a larger battery and a spare. The battery that ships with it is just not up to long cutting jobs, and takes a while to recharge. If you're like me and need this for bigger jobs, I'd recommend ordering a spare battery while you're ordering this. Still highly recommended over a full chain saw for cutting the lighter stuff, much less risk and hassle! ... show more

  • (Updated Review after 10 months) A great tool for small jobs!
Style: 20V Lopper Kit
Updated after 10 months of usage ........ Wow! Maybe the best tool that I have owned This has a lot of power in a small battery supported device. It is fantastic for clearing brush a small trees. I have used it to clear more than 3 miles of fire break (In advance of fires) + This tool is larger than I expected + The battery will support cutting time of about 30 minutes (an hour of work time?) - The battery is slow to recharge - The chain requires oil every 10 min. of run time. + Very easy to start, run and maintain. + My horse is not scared off by the noise. Recommendations ... * Place the batteries in your refrigerator prior to charging ..... * Apply oil directly to the chain ..... forget the designed application hole. * Buy additional batteries for larger jobs ..... I would not recommend this tool for large jobs, that is why we have gas chain saws ... show more

  • Excellent support from Black and Decker
Style: 20V Lopper Kit
The cutters are great, do like they should, but it's obvious that there is a lot of old stock because the battery that came with it would not charge. I contacted Amazon and they sent another unit which had the same problem. Note that I purchased this in 2024, but the battery with both said they were from 2021. Obviously they had died completely and the charger blinked rapidly red saying total failure. I have other B&D battery tools which use the same size battery, so I knew the cutters were fine. I finally contacted Black and Decker directly and after they found out the date of manufacture on the battery they sent me a brand new battery, no charge and sent it fast. The new battery works great. I love the cutters, but even more so I really appreciate that the manufacturer stands so much behind their equipment. Way to go Black and Decker! ... show more

  • Larger than life
Style: 20V Lopper Kit
Much larger and heavier than the one I thought I had ordered! I’ve used one before and thought this was the same. It’s not, it’s so much larger and heavier, I would have to use two hands to even pick it up! Such a pain to return. Not happy customer! I’m also disappointed in the battery powered lawn mower that I bought a month ago. It won’t even mow my small front lawn with both batteries fully charged! If I had a truck I would return it to the store where I purchased it!😝 Carolyn Russell ... show more
