  • Pac-Man Fever
If you are a pac man fan, get it. I have no problems with lag or any other issues that all the negative Nellies are complaining about. It’s just like the old school Atari used to be. It does have stiff joysticks, just like the original. All in all is great and looks good just sitting there.

  • PUT YOUR TV IN ‘GAME’ MODE!!!
First and foremost to anyone who gets this console (or any console for that matter)- put your TV in ‘GAME’ mode in its picture settings. I’m seeing a lot of reviews where people are complaining about the system being laggy. Modern TVs add several frames of lag with all the processing they do on the picture, which can make it feel like everything you’re doing is late on the screen compared to when you’re hitting inputs on the controller. That’s from your TV, not the console (for the most part… this is an Amazon review, not RetroRGB). Generally when you put your TV in ‘GAME’ it mode dials back all that processing and minimizes the lag. Once you do that you likely won’t notice any delay at all. All that said, I really love this console. It’s a really nice looking system, with its yellow case and light-up characters across the front of the case. It comes with a great version of Pac-Man. The controller is definitely stiff and take some getting used to, but that’s how the originals were. Looking forward to picking up a few more cartridges, and likely another controller. ... show more

  • I would buy this if I were you
Got a severe case of the Pac-man fever! Now I have the matching system along with my wireless Pac-Man joystick I purchased during the holidays. The system works beautifully, the games play like they need to and I feel like I’m back in the 1980s when I start it.

  • Unplayable
I was genuinely excited to purchase this Atari 2600 console for my grandson, hoping to share some classic gaming history, starting with the iconic Pac-Man. Unfortunately, that excitement was quickly replaced by profound disappointment upon attempting to play the games. The fatal flaw of this edition is the controller—or rather, the total lack of responsive controls. For a game like Pac-Man, which demands quick, precise directional changes, the controller does not react fast enough to input. It suffers from severe lag, making it practically impossible to navigate the maze effectively. The frustrating experience was compounded by the fact that the controller repeatedly disconnected during gameplay, forcing us to constantly pause and re-sync the device. To ensure the problem wasn't specific to the pre-loaded Pac-Man, I tried playing my own vintage favorite, Frogger. The issue was even worse. The directional inputs were erratic and delayed, confirming that the peripheral hardware is simply defective and not fit for purpose. A retro gaming console lives or dies by the quality of its controls, and these are a complete failure. This product is fundamentally unplayable. It fails to deliver the core experience of classic Atari gaming. I am very disappointed in the poor manufacturing quality and will be returning this console immediately. I strongly caution other buyers to look elsewhere for their dose of retro nostalgia. ... show more

  • Atari dreams and delusions of grandeur restored
What can I say? This thing is awesome. Plays Atari games like it should. I can finally play all my old Atari games that were in the cabinet with my old original 1980’s Atari that just did not want to work. Now I play my original cartridges on a modern TV using a joystick that does not have a pesky short cable and feels and acts like an original. None of that cheap junky knock offs. If you want some nostalgia, reliving those glory days of playing Atari games until mom yelled to you to get your chores done, then wait no more. Now your wife or husband can yell at you for wasting your day playing River Raid or Adventure or whatever your heart desires! ... show more

  • A great Birthday/Christmas gift with a few minor issues.
I have a friend, who's a girl (no need to get into that) that loves Pac-Man and has the same birthday as I do. She finally connected it today but there were a few minor issues. Granted there's a book about the video game but there were not instructions on how to connect it to the TV ( although it could be simple there should have been an instruction manual even though it may have been one page ) and I couldn't help because she's in another city. She is a Smart Cookie and she figured it out eventually. For some reason when she was trying to pair the controller in the controller one port, it did not only work. So she moved to dongle to Port 2 and it worked with no problem. She absolutely loves Pac-Man. I still give it a five star rating ... show more

The controller is super stiff! The whole family had a hard time with it 😔

  • Excellent!
Right out of the box, It's got wireless connectivity and nothing but functionality. Atari 2600 plus is really come a long way. Right out of the box you've got the latest firmware, which means that ALL your old 2600 and 7800 Games work. Get your up to the attic and pull them all down. It's got a wireless joystick, it's got a brand new game, And it's compatible with your 4K TV! (Not 4K ready, but reverse compatible at least.) ... show more
