Description

The B120 binocular compound microscope is designed for teaching demonstrations, clinical examinations and laboratory applications. It is an ideal microscope for teachers and students, including those in medical school or with a major in biology. It has a number of advancements in functionality compared to other microscopes in its class, such as enhanced LED lighting, centerable condenser, and Siedentopf head adjustments. Use the microscope for studying fixed or live cells, bacteria, plants and soil, or water samples. Viewing Head To customize the microscope to your viewing comfort, the eyepiece spacing can be easily adjusted using a precision Siedentopf mechanism. A diopter is available on the left ocular tube to compensate for asymmetry, and the ocular tubes are angled at 30° to comfortably accommodate a seated position without neck strain. Various eyepieces can be used to increase the overall optical magnification. Optics The objective turret provides instant access to 4 magnification levels to easily focus in on minute details from 40X to 1000X. Additional 25X eyepieces expand the maximum magnification to 2500X with 6 unique levels. This covers magnifications needed for studying hair follicles, cells, and bacteria. These high-quality lenses are achromatically corrected to improve resolution and color accuracy. The Stage The 2-layer mechanical stage provides smooth and precise movement for examination of specimen slides. The stage's low-position controls are conveniently placed near the coaxial focus knobs for a streamlined workflow. Examining specimen slides is intuitive and precise for users at any skill level. Transmitted Illumination The LED sub-stage lighting provides cool, energy-efficient illumination. The light-source is daylight balanced to produce natural colors for imaging. With our specially developed fly-eye lens, the light is evenly distributed at maximum brightness to improve contrast and resolution. Illumination is further enhanced by a centerable Abbe condenser, which can be realigned for any magnification to guarantee proper lighting. This kit includes 50 blank slides and 100 cover slips for dry or wet mounting specimens to view with your microscope. • Superb quality and built like a tank.
Style: w/ 1MP Eyepiece Camera
I use it four to five times a day on soil and compost analysis. I use an eye glass cleaning kit on it after every use ( quick wipe down). Its mind blowing the stuff living everywhere. Never used one before and got the hang of it after an hour or so. The camera is mediocre and pointless for my use. I wanted to take lots of pics, but it slows me down and I haven’t wanted to learn the software that would probably give better resolution( my iphone camera through the eye piece works just fine ). I will never wonder again why my gardens killing it or dying. I had no idea that something of this quality was in my price range. Accessories bought with it,(slides, test tubes, and eye droppers). I bought way to many. I always carry a test tube with me everywhere I go now. You never no when you might find that perfect mycorrhiza. Why is that guys yard so green? Now I know! Thanks Amscope. ... show more

  • Excellent, read my review if you consider this purchase.
Style: w/ 50 Blank Slides + 100 Cover Slips
This is an excellent product. Please read my following 'tips' and you'll be glad you did: - Amscope makes (or supplies) a huge variety of optics. This causes some confusion in the reviews. - The 120 comes in several varieties. The B120 (which I have), is binocular. - All the non 5 star reviews here, are for the T120, which is the trinocular version, with comes with a 1 mega pixel camera. The B120 has NO camera! It's unfortunate the 'reviews' cannot be more detailed, but they are lumped together and marked as such. I've seen this same issue with high end riflescopes. Multiple old and new models mix,d. Disregard the T120 reviews. - The B120 Manual is easily downloaded on the internet. It's good. - I've been using microscopes since I was young (I'm 80 now), so I have some experience. - Packing. Beyond awesome. VERY secure. - First step (duh), is to turn the eyepiece 180 degrees! I didn't do this at first and had some ergonomic issues. It is shipped this way to allow a smaller package. Clever. - Buy the optional color filters here. Cheap. - The 'scope will accept the filters easily. However, it took me a while to find the tiny, silver stud on the condenser to open the filter holder. Yes, I'm older. And. the 'scope was backwards. My bad. - These newer models now use a LED light source. Previously, they used a Halogen bulb that glows yellowish at lower levels. The LED runs very cool and uses very low current. I'm an EE. - Controls, Perfect. My first 'scope although usable, had NO fine focus and was a bit sloppy. EVERY control on this 'scope is backlash free and smooth as butter. Awesome. - I also bought the 120 prepared slide assortment which was a great help getting used to the stage moving up and down versus the eyepiece, on my vintage unit. I wrote a review of this item here. GREAT! - Is it a Zeiss? No, but it is perfect for me! ... show more

  • Very simple and works perfectly
Style: w/ 50 Blank Slides + 100 Cover Slips
I am a complete noob but found this microscope very easy to setup and use. I saw my first microbes by looking at pond water. I then looked at demodex mites from my face just to gross myself out. LOL I ordered a couple stains and am glad I added this to my toolkit.

  • Not worth it.
Style: w/ Book + 50 Blank Slides
The microscope seems like it is quality made, however, the field of view is very small..like the size of a dime. Also, there were specs of something in the lenses. The only good thing about this microscope package was the inclusion of slides. I returned it and for some reason the return process is very long. I shipped it back on May 19th and supposedly my refund won't be credited to my debit account until May 29th. I have been an Amazon member for many years so not sure why that is taking so long. And the "financial institution" excuse is not really valid anymore. With today's technology funds are usually available immediately or very quickly anyway. I would not buy this again. ... show more

  • Good compromise for a beginning user
Style: w/ Book
Was very hesitant to purchase from this company as I read good and bad reviews and they seem to lack in the customer service department. My 6th grader, who is interested in marine science and microbiology wanted a microscope for Christmas. The one I would have purchased was about $589 if I knew for a fact that she would continue down that path. So I compromised and ordered this one as it seemed as though it was fairly good quality and features for the price. That way if she didn't use it much, I wouldn't be fuming about the expensive one sitting in the closet unused. This scope, although from China, does include the fine and coarse focusing as well as the movable stage and the variable eye pieces which are all great at this price point. Great magnification options as well. Does take some getting used to if you have not used a scope before. Make sure that you email AmScope directly and have them email you a user manual as it does not come in the box. I found this suggestion on another forum and I am so glad that we had the manual when it was opened on Christmas. I read everything and learned a lot about microscopes along the way. There are not a lot of products between the cheap, useless ones and the high quality ones. This one seems to be working well and has enough features to do the things my child is interested in. They have already looked at algae, blood, mold, pond water and other things. There are several different packages of this model. The letters after the - tell you what comes in the box. This one has the book which is helpful for beginners. There are others that have blank slides and slide sets with them. Slides can be purchased very inexpensively on Amazon so it wasn't a good deal to buy the one that included the other stuff. Make sure you order the wipes to clean the lenses and the slides to keep it clean and functioning well the same time you order the scope. ... show more
