The binder material is thick but it is clear that if either stressed or receives heavy use then it may not hold together over a long term. The three ring D-clasp holds a significant amount of weight. I use this as a CD/DVD binder with 12x12 sleeves. It seems plausible that one binder could hold around sixty discs. I took my time shopping before buying this item. My fault for not reading the reviews and didn't expect it to be a cardboard cover. It did arrive in perfect condition and now I understand the versatility of it (you can decorate it to your liking). Will figure out how to decorate it - it leaves alot up to your imagination! I think I can make this work - unsure if I'll look to order more in the future (it depends how it holds up). ... show more

    • Front and back covers have no material on them

Disappointing. Using one of them although not very happy with it. Positive is that the D rings are very good and come together in a way that will not result in the halves not meshing. The less than positive. The 12 x 12 pages seem thin. They do NOT include any insert in the pages. The supplied pages are sized just slightly smaller than the cover. The 12 x 12 refill pages for 4x6 photos is larger than the front and back covers, so they extend out. The front and back covers are held to the spine by cloth that is wrapped around the last few inches of the covers. That material seems too thin to hold up very long. The front and back covers have no cloth, vinyl or other covering. It is bare board (cardboard?) that the user is expected to decorate or somehow protect from handling smudges. Maybe these were intended to be a crafts project rather than a ready to use album. If used for crafting, they may meet the need. Just don't put anything heavy in the supplied 12 x 12 pages. I'll not buy these again and may send one of the two back to Amazon. I opened one, so I'll keep or throw it away. ... show more

I needed a 3 ring,12x12 binder for an album I'm making. It had to be cheap as I'm on a budget, but be of decent quality. This binder is exactly that. It's mainly made out of thick cardboard, which arrived perfect for me. I thought it was a bit plain, but the good thing is you can easily paint and decorate it to your liking. ... show more

Very disappointed. These are cardboard, and both came damaged. The covers bend easily, so whatever you put on them to hide the ugly cover will not stay put because the surface will not remain fixed. American Crafts are typically good products...not these though.

The 3 ring binder makes it easy to add clear page protectors unlike the bonded albums. I use these albums for to organize my 12x12 card stock and vinyl sheets. Some reviews are disappointed in the plain cover but I like the option of being able to decorate it for myself.
